Adebayor shortlisted for 2008 African Player of the Year
Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor, fresh of his four goals scored against Swaziland last Saturday, was nominated for the CAF Best African Footballer of the World award. The nominees are:
Mohamed Abou-Treika (Ahli, Egypt), Amr Zaki (Wigan Athletic, Egypt), Didier Drogba (Chelsea, Ivory Coast), Michael Essien (Chelsea, Ghana), Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal, Togo).
Rumours on the internet are putting Egypt’s Amr Zaki as clear favorite for the title but Emmanuel’s 30+ goals last season can’t go unnoticed. For sure, although you could see the nominee coming, this should be yet another morale booster for our tall man.
The winner will be announced in December.
