LONDON — Arsene Wenger’s darkest period as Arsenal manager looks to be over after his under-strength Gunners beat Manchester United 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Wenger had been heavily criticized in the past 10 days after his team threw away a two-goal lead in the final minutes to draw with Tottenham on Oct. 29. Three days later, Arsenal players were accused of being incapable of competing with physical sides after losing 2-1 at Stoke.
