Chelsea’s Essien clearly envious of Arsenal’s style of football

What to do when you’re sidelined with an injury for months, you can’t train, you can’t play and you spend your weekend watching Arsenal beating Manchester United in style and then your team beating Blackburn with yet another stroke of luck off Anelka’s knee?

Simple. You talk about it! This is what Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien told BBC on Arsenal’s style of football:

To play beautiful football without points, is I don’t think, worth it. To be rough and get three points, or play well and get three points – win ugly or beautifully – I don’t care.

As an Arsenal fan, am I disappointed that we went trophyless for the last couple of seasons? Of course I am, but believe me, if you really want to criticise Arsene Wenger’s way of understanding football, then please don’t do it by saying that winning ugly is better. Furthermore, it’s amazing how our opponents keep on talking about Arsenal and Arsenal and Arsenal, yet we never talk about them.

So yes dear Essien, we may not win anything but I would rather lose it like Arsenal than win it like Chelsea.
