Even manager Arsene Wenger has no clue which version of Arsenal will turn up to matches at the moment.

The one that swept aside Manchester United last week with a dazzling brand of football, thrashed Blackburn Rovers 4-0 away and dismantled Fenerbahce in Istanbul or the one that lost at home to Hull City, got bullied into defeat at Stoke City and was well-beaten 2-0 at home by Aston Villa last weekend.

LONDON — Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been suspended for next weekend’s match against Manchester City after he picked up a fifth yellow card in the team’s 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.

Fabregas had picked up cautions against Newcastle, Bolton, West Ham and Stoke before being booked in the first half against Villa on Saturday.

After Arsenal’s recent home loss to Aston Villa people are contemplating whether Arsenal are still a top four team, others are saying that Arsenal will lose out to the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Tottenham but I fail to see Arsenal dropping out of the top four.

It is no doubt the weakest side Wenger has ever put together selling all the experience in the midfield and failing to buy a decent central midfielder with leadership ability and experience, has not done them any favours.

Maybe that victory over Manchester United was a raging against the dying of the light after all. Certainly there was barely a flicker as Aston Villa comprehensively defeated Arsenal with their midfielder Steve Sidwell even venturing to declare what has been thought by opponents – but left largely unspoken – this season.
