Is this the start of a long, agonising nightmare?
In life, but also in football, it doesn’t take much for happyness to turn into depression and anger. This is what happened last season when Eduardo was stretched off in horrible pain and later on Clichy conceded a penalty which handed Birmingham a late equaliser leaving Gallas in dismay.
As much as we would like to find out, we can’t know what happened after that match and we can’t know what Arsene Wenger told Gallas who was anything but a captain on the day. What we know is that a new season started just a couple of months ago and it seems as if there are players who are still upset with each other. In the Frenchman’s latest interview, a 25/26 year old black sheep is mentioned, someone who – believe it or not – insults fellow team-mates, leaving us questioning the maturity of our so-called heroes.
When as captain some players come up to you and talk to you about a player… complaining about him… and then during the match you speak to this player and the player in question insults us, there comes a time where we can no longer comprehend how this can happen.
Of all the things which are happening to us, there is one which I can’t understand and never will. What is the reason why our players love the media so much? Are they paid for it? Why are they wasihng their dirty clothes in public? Don’t they talk with each other? We’re talking about adults here. Don’t try and sell me the same old bullshit that Arsenal is a young team, hence immature. Maybe, just maybe, the 16-year olds are, but not the over-18. And definitely not the over 23.
We are facing a problem and it’s a huge one. With the way Arsene Wenger understands football you can’t go out there with two players not liking each other as our understanding of football starts and ends with team work in mind. It’s easy for the players to blame Arsene Wenger for not bringing players in, but he didn’t, end of story and if you don’t like it, ask for a transfer. But please, don’t stay to cause havoc, be a professional.
First Fabregas, with the midfield around him, and now Gallas. There was no need for them to talk in public because that the midfield is weak, we know it and that the squad may not be brave enough, we know it. It’s time for our players to get their act together, lock themselves in a room and spend hours sorting issues out.
Until they do, well, just cross fingers and hope.
