It was indeed a battle between Arsenal and Hull City yesterday but coach Arsene Wenger decided to keep his cool during the post-match press conference. The Frenchman, on the Cesc Fabregas incident said:
[I saw] nothing. I think we saw a good football team against a Hull team who fought very hard. We needed special qualities and special mental strengths and we have shown that. In the end we won the game and we deserved to win because we created many chances. Hull did throw their body in on every single ball but I don’t know what happened after the game.
For me football is interesting and it looks to me like you have seen 95 minutes of good football and that is what’s most important.
On William Gallas’ goal, he added:
It is not offside, I am sorry to say. The ball was deflected by the fist of the goalkeeper so consequently the ball comes from an opponent so it’s a normal goal. It touched Djourou first, the goalkeeper after, then it was a foul on Gallas. Penalty! In fact, we should have had two goals.
