Wenger on Song, “I read articles that stated Song was the worst signing I ever made since I am at Arsenal”

Written by Renzo on April 22, 2009 – 13:00

During the last month, Arsenal’s Alexander Song has become more and more of a favourite amongst supporters, but according to coach Arsene Wenger, it’s not always been like that.

The Frenchman said:

I read articles that stated Song was the worst signing I ever made since I am at Arsenal. I was one of the few people who kept faith in him. But we just needed to be patient. He helps the team to be well balanced because he is more defensive than the other midfielders. However I rather consider him as a centre defender.

Meanwhile, the Cameroon International said:

I am not the same player I was two years ago. I have more trust in me as have my team-mates. I play where the coach asks me, and it went off smoothly so far. The boss has trust in me, it is up to me to show he has been right.
