Manchester United are crowned champions with an 18-point gap, and Wenger thinks defensive strength is the only difference
As I was watching the Man. Utd. game I couldn’t stop wondering how on earth we couldn’t find the back of the net. Granted, there was an improvement from the last games but as one of our readers correctly said, it was more because Alex Ferguson’s side was happy to sit back and defend the goalless draw rather than because we were really better out there. After all, when the Red Devils meant business in the Champions League, we all saw the outcome.
Difference between Arsenal and Man United is defensive strength
I wonder based on what Wenger believes the difference between us and the Premiership winners is the defense. Are we to believe he doesn’t realise Ferguson’s side is so strong that he can afford the luxury of keeping the likes of Berbatov and Scholes and Tevez on the bench? Are we to believe he didn’t realise Ferguson’s side is more hungry for success than his side? You can’t even say our boss was too busy studying yesterday’s game not to realise the difference between the two sides is more than just the back four, since he ended up picking Diaby and putting Robin all alone up front yet again.
Seriously boss, for once, just once, it would be nice to read a pre-match or post-match interview in which you say things just as they are, rather than trying to sell us this non-sense to make things look better than they actually are.
Diaby, Diaby and once more Diaby
Exactly, what is the reason why Diaby is still a regular in this side? Seriously, if anyone has a valid answer to the question, please stand up and let us know. How would you feel if you were in Carlos Vela’s shoes, or Ramsey, or Wilshere, knowing that Diaby was given all the chances in the world yet you’re always on the bench waiting for your turn which will never come despite impressing when called into action? Wenger’s stubborness is the only answer I can provide, he’s so damn stubborn he thinks that by utilising Diaby over and over again, one day, maybe in 2012, the Frenchman will do well in a game and kick-off a career which would see him become the new Vieira.
The positive
Song and Denilson were the two who impressed the most. Alex was majestic at the back and so was Denilson in midfield with both players anticipating ManUtd’s moves to perfection. I will go deeper into what their role could be next season in my season review later on during the month but I strongly believe these two will definitely provide a guarantee just in case one of the regulars at the back or in midfield suffer injuries.
Looking forward
What’s done is done. Our last game of the season is at the Emirates against Stoke with both sides having nothing more to say in this year’s Premiership so hopefully it will be a nice game of football in which Adebayor will be given a deserved farewall from the fans. I have mixed feelings over the departure of Emmanuel, but ultimately, I think it’s for the better.
