Carlos Vela on the injury, “[Arsenal] monitored the situation. They want you to go back healthy and without problems”
Arsenal striker Carlos Vela, who recovered from injury, spoke about the scare he faced last week after being tackled from behind in Mexico’s first game at the Gold Cup.
The youngster said:
The first thing you do is think the worst. You imagine bad things. You think you can’t play, you’re done. But the (team) doctor was there and helped me stay calm as I went through testing. I knew soon what was wrong and what I had to do to get back on the field.
Arsenal did ask questions on his fitness situation as Vela confirmed:
They monitored the situation. They want you to go back healthy and without problems. It’s part of the job. You don’t go with your national team thinking you’ll get hurt.
