Theo Walcott, “Sometimes it’s not just about pretty football, we need to grind out the results”
England striker Theo Walcott revealed the pretty football Arsenal are renowned for may not be enough next season as the squad must learn to “win ugly”, if required.
I think we need to do the dirty things right.
Sometimes it’s not just about pretty football, we need to grind out the results sometimes and get the win, get the three points. In cup competitions no one remembers the game, as long as the result is right. We need to take that into our game. Manchester United and Chelsea do the dirty work and they take their chances as well, that’s another thing we need to learn and improve on.
We had a great experience of getting to Semi-Finals last season but not quite getting to Finals. Hopefully we can put that right.
Ahead of next season’s role, he added:
The boss said hopefully he will start to put me up front now and then. That’s my natural position but I’d play anywhere for this team.
I want to improve my final ball and score more goals. You get judged on goals so I want to score 15-plus this season. That would be nice. I love making runs in behind, I love scoring goals and making goals. That’s what I’ll be judged on and I’m looking forward to that.

Well this is a lot of talk from Walcott…
But this is another one who signed a lucrative contract and has showed little since!!!!
I don’t want to be too critical, but some players have it nice.
Walcott said that he wants a more central role!!!! Well he does not have the physique nor the drive…
I guess I am being too judgmental,so let see and hope.
I wanted to ask the audience and writers,is Arsene Wenger planning to add more strength to the team?
Because if Vermealen is the only addition, well we are in trouble!!
this madness has to stop. football players have to concentrate on winning football matches. the manager has a philosophy of how he wants the game to be played. perhaps if walcott dint look so ordinary against united in the game he talked about we would have been at the final. he doesnt have the physique to play up front but he doesnt make up for that with a football brain. walcott hasnt got the technique required of a modern centre forward. the days of 4-4-2 seem to be slowly going and walcott has a lot of work to do if he is to fit into say a 4-4-3 formation. he is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy behind schedule of where he should be in his development as a player and even though i have seen little of jack wilshere, id prefer him in walcotts position. a little bit less talk will do. he is in no position to be talking a bout tactics and what we should and shouldnt do.
