Arshavin, “We have to finish speaking about how young we are. We need to play like we are a big and strong team”
Many Arsenal fans have always wondered when the “let’s not forget how young players are” tag will be part of the past.
Russian midfielder Andrei Arshavin believes the time has come as the Gunners look to end their title drought next season.
Arshavin told Sky Sports magazine:
Next season will be like my first real season.
This has been like the preamble, a demo version before the start of the real game. Everything will start for real next season.
We’ll have to see how that unfolds. My main concern will be making sure I keep my place in the team.
I want to enjoy a good pre-season with the team. I have already adapted. I am very happy. The fans love me, which is important for me.
We all believe that there will be trophies, and that the new season will be full of joy for the players and the fans.
But we have to finish speaking about how young we are. We need to play like we are a big and strong team.

This message should go straight to Wenger. The team cannot be young for a decade and he has to look for another excuse if things go wrong. After the sale of Ade, he said the team is strong enough, thus he saw no need to sign new players. So the team has to deliver now.
next year we finish 5th and fabregas would leave then that stubborn wenger would again say we dont need any signings we have enough quality and i am damn sure we will finish 5th if that lol does not signs anyone
For fucks sake the season hasn;t kicked off yet and you’re all moaning. Adebayor will not be missed as we already have forwards that can match or better his last years tally. We can’t judge Vermaelen yet but he might be a positive influence on the back row.we weren’t terrible last season but AW did make some foolish mistakes, even he can learn. Look for a big season from Bendtner and hopefully Diaby if played in the right position. Nothing has happened to make me think this is going to be a bad season,and if City are a threat then they’re a threat to everyone.Come on you Reds

I keep hearing comments and suggestions from Arshavin. At first I thought he had too much to say for a new kid on the block, now I`m not so sure. My mind is beginning to drift the other way and I`m looking to the next captain of Arsenal and what could be the best in a long time.
His mind is uncomplicated and relatively simple but he knows exactly what he wants. Like in his game he can cut corners and comes to the point, a philosophy lost in our western world.
Fabregas is a dreamer of a different kind and much more temperamental Arshavin has the eastern attitude, `take no prisoners`. I like him.

Many “fans” are not real Gooners in my opinion.
I’ve been following the Arsenal since the 70ties and I’ve known periods with 7 years and no trophys. It hasn’t stopped me supporting The Arsenal you know.
How many teams last year made a 19 games unbeaten run ? Only the young Arsenal did. Now next season just need to win more games instead of a drawn and things will be great.
So just go out and support your team on a positive note and stop being so doom and gloom.

Whoever thinks Man City will pip Arsenal in the top four has truly lost it. Im in South Africa and watched both Man City games so far, granted its pre season games, and they were quite poor. I actually think Villa or Everton will pip Man City instead.
It sickens me when people respond to setbacks by turning on their own team. A fan has one role to play which is to back the team. It’s quite simple. Coaches coaches, managers manage, players play, supporters support.
By supporting the team you perform a useful function. By carping, moaning and finding fault you inevitably drag the team down.
So if you’re not happy with your role in life, if it’s not enough for you, then please find something else to do.
Arshavin is 100% rite abt this tag of “young” players..bcoz it is a rock solid truth that we have young players in Arsenal who are better than many experienced players in the world..so we dont have to tell the world abt how young we are and what we suppose to do and will do..now after 4 years on..we have to forget abt all the things happened to us, we have made many mistakes and and we are learning from them..we have to progress well and cool so we’ll have things that we are longing for, and now these young Gunners have much experience that will lead us to many trophies/titles..Best of Luck to us..we’ll win something this year..and by the way Nasri Get Well Soon, and for them who are leaving us Best of Luck to them for their future as well..

I think its really good everyone sees arsenal as no title contenders. At least we can hide behind that cloud and pull a surprise. Well on a more serious note, Nasri’s injury is a big blow but this will give Rosicky the chance he needs to return to his top shape.Who knows,even Wilshere as young as he is can step up to this challenge. I really think he needs more playing time from Wenger to give the confidence that will catapult him to do great things.What i dislike is the constant reminder that ” we are still a young team” talk.It really shown in our semi-final champions league against manutd.For me the problem was never our young players(it was our “we are still a young team” talk).Our players could have done it but crumbled coz of dis same talk and guess what manutd used it against us(when evra and ferdinand kept on saying we were todddlers and couldn’t stop.It was their mind game and it worked for them).The truth is every team in the league knows that if we believe in ourselves, we will be unstoppable.Let’s carry a can do spirit and attitude and i bet u,this team will be invincible.Anyways, I think Song can step into that defensive midfield role.Watch out for him.

Arshavin is right but we still need a player that fights for the ball at MF, a player who is able to intimidate other players at the MF, a player who makes the opponent’s MF packed and irrelevant, in short a no nonses player. I am sorry players like Song, diaby, Denilson and the like are just too soft for the mid field and may not be good for a serious game with Chalsea, Man United and Liverpool
