Arsenal vs Blackburn, 6-2: Match Report – FAB day at the Emirates!

An instrumental Cesc Fabregas helped Arsenal bag SIX goals at the Emirates against Blackburn Rovers.
Rovers took a shocking lead through Nzonzi, before Thomas Vermaelen equalised with a fierce drive from outside the box.
David Dunn then saw his shot bundled in but Robin Van Persie replied instantly for the Gunners. Arsenal upped the tempo and Cesc Fabregas ran the show as he set up Arshavin for the third before half time.
Fabregas volleyed in the fourth before Walcott and Bendtner completed the scoreline with some good strikes.
The home side were warmed in by the presence of the Arsenal legend Thierry Henry who received a standing ovation from the crowd. However once the game started, everybody shell shocked when Nzonzi headed over Mannone to give Blackburn a surprising lead.
Arsenal looked for a reply and in came top goal scorer Vermaelen. After good combination between Fabregas and Diaby, the former found the Belgium international just outside the area. Vermaelen took one quick touch to give him some space before unleashing a left foot drive into the bottom corner- scorcher!
Arsenal attacked and attacked but Robinson saved well before Rovers countered. Di Santo finding Dunn who drove at William Gallas, cut inside and shot towards goal. The ball took a wicked deflection and went in, nothing Mannone could have done about that one.
Minutes late, Fabregas split the defence in two when he found Van Persie, the Dutchman made no mistakes when he cooly slotted the ball into the bottom corner with a left foot shot. The home side were rampant, and went into the break firmly in the lead when Arshavin raced on to Fabregas’s pass to drive a low strike past Robinson.
The Arsenal skipper was having a blast and rounded off a perfect performance after half time. After patient build up from the home side, Rosicky lofted a ball just outside the box; the bounce favoured the Spaniard and he hammered in a volley into the top corner- beauty!
A goal Henry would have been proud of!
The away team forced Mannone into a great save before Walcott made his first start to the season. Rovers managed to hit the post after a shot from Hoilett deflected off Vermaelen.
Arsenal created more chances as Diaby shot wide before the Gunners showed a blistering counter attack in which Fabregas slipped in Walcott. The Englishman side footed first time into the bottom corner to open his scoring account for the season.
Fabregas was given a standing ovation after a man- of- the match display as he was replaced by Nicklas Bendtner. The Dane missed a glorious chance when he shot straight at Robinson but managed to smash in a beautiful shot from outside the box.
