Birmingham’s day-after thoughts: It won’t be long before we go top of the Premiership

According to Arsene Wenger, we could have easily scored more yesterday if in some occasions players opted to be less selfish and worked “collectively” as he put it.
I would also add the lack of concentration which could have cost us dearly, but overall, it was still a good performance out of which we take all three points and full advantage of the slips from the other top teams who either lost or drew.
We’ll soon be up there, leading the Premiership
If I analyse our upcoming fixtures, I see plenty of easy games, even the Spurs one and I’ve been saying this for a long time, that our next real test will be away at Chelsea and luck wants that it won’t be before November 29.
Meaning what? Well with Chelsea facing Manchester United and Bolton away from home and Manchester United facing Liverpool and of course Chelsea, I believe it won’t be long before we top the table and I firmly believe that we will be leaders of the Premiership when we go at Stamford Bridge.
Having said that, it would also be nice to see some rotation before that, so as to make sure the regulars reach next month at the top of their form. I mean, when you consider that Samir Nasri, Carlos Vela, Aaron Ramsey and Eduardo are not currently being utilised, I lick my lips at the idea of having all of them fit!
Did Diaby finally wake up?
That Abou needs no second invitation to score is a well-known fact and I was not surprised to see him bury it like that when he was presented with an opportunity to score. I was, however, surprised to see him track back in more than one occasion and win the ball when doing so.
Of course, Birmingham in not a top team but it’s a start. And, I believe Abou can indeed be the perfect partner for Alex Song, with the Cameroon International enjoying an amazing season so far. That is because the two of them bring strength, height and goals to the midfield so let’s just hope they can keep it up.
Looking Forward
AZ, away from home are next to make it three out of three and have one foot into the next round already. Theo Walcott is out of the clash, so maybe we’ll see some of Carlos Vela, although the Mexican only landed in London last Friday.
A preview of that game will be published tomorrow.
Until then, as always, take care.
