Arsenal vs Liverpool preview: Will the kids show the old ones how to fight? Plus favourite line-up
Written by Chris on October 27, 2009 22:00
For two consecutive games, the regular side of Arsenal has failed to get all three points despite leading in both the Champions League and Premiership games.
The task to make us forget all that and put a smile back on our face is in the hands of the young ones, the likes of Carlos Vela, Aaron Ramsey, Sanchez Watt, Gilles Sunu, Kieran Gibbs and Fran Merida.
I don’t know what the outcome of the game will be but I have a feeling we will enjoy a fascinating game with plenty of goals. What I am however sure of, is that the eleven who will start and finish the game will fight from the first to the last minute, something which ultimately we have failed to see from the “big” boys.
Liverpool
Having beaten Manchester United on Sunday, the Reds will be on fire and ready to fight to throw us out of the Carling Cup. I believe Rafa Benitez will contrary to Wenger start with plenty of regulars so as to indeed build on last weekend’s momentum and register back-to-back wins over Manchester United and Arsenal in a matter of days. That would of course be a huge morale booster for a side which started badly.
Favourite line-up
Similarly to the West Brom game, predicting tomorrow’s line-up is quite tricky so feel free to correct me if I miss a name or two. Jack Wilshere will be missing and he will surely be devastated for that and so am I, as I love to watch him play.
Gilbert – Senderos – Silvestre – Gibbs
Sunu – Ramsey – Merida – Nasri
Vela – Watt
Lukasz Fabianski and Samir Nasri are certain starters according to Arsene Wenger. If it was for me, I would also start with Eduardo so as to see him with Vela knowing how good they can be together but I believe Arsene will stick to his young guns policy and involve the Croatian and also Bendtner in the second half.
Reason why I believe it will be Sanchez Watt alongside Carlos Vela up front with Fran Merida supporting Aaron Ramsey in midfield and Gilles Sunu on the left.
Pre-match Interviews
Alberto Aquilani will be part of Liverpool’s squad according to Rafa Benitez and may feature in the last part of the game.
On the Italian, Benitez said:
He will be with us. He is improving his fitness, so he’s in the squad.
He cannot start at this moment but he will be there and maybe we can give him some minutes. If it’s possible, we will try to use him.
Amongst all those looking forward to the game is Francis Coquelin, with the 18-year old declaring he’s excited and waiting for the game as he hopes Arsene Wenger will stick to the same young side which battled past West Brom.
The Frenchman said:
I’m really excited, I’m waiting for it. We’ve got a chance. It’s one game, anything can happen.
I felt a little bit nervous but I really enjoyed the [West Brom] game and I hope to play against Liverpool.
I think everyone will give 100 per cent in training and after that it’s the choice of the manager.
