Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur, 3-0: Full time thoughts, analysis and player ratings

Written by Chris on October 31, 2009 – 20:00

The Game

The form Arsenal are showing at the Emirates is simply above all expectations. No games lost, twenty goals scored and only four goals conceded.

It wasn’t the best of starts from the Gunners who seemed nervous and needed time to click with each other, but after they did so in the last part of the first half, there was no mercy for our opponents. All in all you could say that almost all our players started slowly but stepped it up a gear as the game went on, meaning that we get all three points and go second in the table.

Player Ratings

Almunia: 7 – He was under heavy pressure for this game but reacted positively. He did well when having to catch the ball and produced two fine saves.

Gallas: 7,5 – Gave nothing away to Crouch, a tricky client to have, and used his experience when required.

Vermaelen: 8,5 – Seriously, I saw absolutely nothing wrong with his display. He was simply immense at the back and like Billy, gave nothing away to Crouch.

Sagna: 8 – Brilliant, simply brilliant. Besides being as solid as a rock at the back, today, he was also superb when surging forward.

Clichy: 7 – Gael was also very solid at the back and put pressure on Spurs right from the half-way line, something he’s so good at.

Diaby: 5 – A better second half cannot cancel his shocking first. He needs to be replaced immediately, before causing serious damage.

Song: 7 – Awful start from Alex but recovered well, especially when blocking Robbie Keane with a superb tackle. His second half then, was perfect.

Fabregas: 8 – You can’t say he had a perfect game as he had a very slow start but that goal, THAT goal, will go down as one of the best of this year’s Premiership.

Arshavin: 6 – With Samir Nasri back, you would have expected Andrey to feel the pressure and improve on his previous games but unfortunately, he still seems off his best level of form. I don’t expect him to score four in every game but seriously, he can perform much better than this.

Bendtner: 6 – I think he was having a great game before the injury. As I predicted in chat, he’ll be one for a month. Shame.

Van Persie: 8 – Together with Thomas, he’s our best player so far. I was very disappointed to see him argue with Bendtner in the first half, that’s something a senior player should never do, but he’s going like a train, scoring in every game.

(Subs)
Eduardo: 5,5 – Too many easy chances missed but it’s understandable, he’s been out for so long and he needs time, maybe more than we thought.

Eboue: 6 – Emmanuel also had very little time to impress, but did well.

Ramsey: No Vote – Less than five minutes for Aaron.
