Alex Song on his first day at Arsenal, “My heart was beating at like 200 beats per minute”
From hero to zero. It could easily be the story of Cameroon International Alex Song who according to many last season, was not good enough to play for Arsenal.
But this year, the 22-year old is sending strong signals to those who criticised him by enjoying back-to-back impressive performances with the Gunners, becoming irreplaceable in Arsene Wenger’s midfield.

Alexander Song
On Arsenal TV Online, Song was speaking about his first day at Arsenal and what it meant to him meeting the likes of Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.
He said:
It was July, 2005 and I came here with the chairman of Bastia.
I walked into the dressing room and saw Robert [Pires], Thierry [Henry], Dennis [Bergkamp]. It was unbelievable; they were players you watch on the TV.
I just asked myself ‘Alex, what are you doing here?’
I was really impressed to see the big players I love to watch on the TV, I never forgot that. Thierry came to see me and said, ‘welcome to Arsenal.’
Dennis asked, ‘Are you ok?’ But because I didn’t speak any English, I asked Thierry ‘what did this guy say?’ He told me he said, ‘welcome to Arsenal, he’s very impressed.’
I never forgot that, my heart was beating at like 200 beats per minute. It was unbelievable.

Its a pleasure to have such a great player in our team, and at 22 you can only get better mate

Dennis asked, ‘Are you ok?’ But because I didn’t speak any English, I asked Thierry ‘what did this guy say?’ He told me he said, ‘welcome to Arsenal, he’s very impressed.’
LOL that is funny
Very impressed with your performance thus far Alex…keep up the good work.
keeps improving alex…
Alex you are a great addition to Arsenal’s midfield. Your work rate and attitude on the pitch is clear example of the Arsenal’s Way
I dont care about last season because everyone seemed to bash Adebayor and Denilson so am with the DM even as they win the title this season. . . . . YOU GO GUNNERS!
To me Song your the best defensive midfielder in the world the unsung hero at Arsenal n wld like to see you have some long range efforts at goal so you can prove to Essien your the best True gooner
Its very true that Alex’s(Song) performence is very impreesing that i hope not only to me as an arsenal fan but to many fans as well. His performance is always seen in the pitch,His presence means alot to his team mates and its a good thing to share you joy with others.I also say Alex should keep up such a spirit.
It so common that many people don’t appreciate what good things thier fellows does because of one thing or another. But I appreciate Alex Song’s recorgnition of his fellow players – Thiery, and many others. To me, this is pretty good. Its really great to have such players in the team.Hai to you all as you read this comment.Thanks.
Alex you are my hero. The best midfielder in africa and among the best in the world. Keep up bro.
Marvelous to see that patience and hardwork has paid divident to a quiet
and polite young man. The young man has been at it since he came to us.
He played any position gaffer told him to play and never complained or
spout nonsense in the papers. God bless you, kiddo.
We see it clearly again wolves…….. with You (Alex) and without you. Your my hero, Arsenals hero among your teammate
He is very solid. A key player for Arsenal. And right now, I see no one who can replace him as our defensive midfielder. The best thing is that this guy is only 22 years old, he will still improve his skills.
I never had a doubt about Alex ability as a midfielder or has a defender, keep yourself grounded and keep up the good work for the arsenal cause.
I just hope diaby can apply some of your effort for the team cause.
great, great Song!!! he is vital in our midfield…I hope some goals from him this season.
