Arsene Wenger reveals Gunners are contenders for title, “The desire is there”

Submitted by Jeffrey on November 9, 2009 – 4:00 7 Comments

Arsenal go into the International break with plenty to smile about after back-to-back 4-1 wins in the Champions League and English Premiership.

The Gunners, who are on 25 points like reigning champions Manchester United but with a game in hand, can go top if they beat Chelsea at the Emirates and then secure all three points from the Bolton one.

On being contenders for the Premiership, manager Arsene Wenger said:

The desire is there. We just want to strengthen our belief.

The most important factor is we play for each other as we do. We have to focus on our performance and continue to develop our style of play.

We were out of it (the title race) last year after we lost five games in 14. Two years ago, though, we were close to winning it, people forget that. We will keep our humility and play our game.

We have scored 36 goals in the league. That is not a coincidence. We can score goals. I feel as though we have a good balance between offensive and defence.

Dear Mr.Wenger, we need trophies this season for the word to believe in your principles of young players; our players are all good but team selection will be your problem

ban has been lifted from chelsea…..what a disgrace…we have good attacking option but sadly its the defence that win titles and sadly we don’t have depth in that department…well lets hope gallas and vermalaen can remain fit for whole season…….

I’m really convinced that we are in title race this year!
Please coach(staff) do not loose this opportunity because Chelsea will suffer a lot during African Cup in Angola.
Remmember to find out Song’s REMPLCEMENT IN JANUARY TRANSFER MARKET.

    Hi,
This is truly our season but A.W. should be more cautious of the Jan. spell when Song and Eboue will be away for ACN championship and thus do what is required of him and that is signing Blaise Matuidi and an equally strong central defender to assist our boys at the back and just in case of fatigue/injuries strikes to any of the two CD at the latter stages of all the competitions Arsenal will be involved in.
