Nicklas Bendtner, “Within five years, I want to be among the best strikers in the world”

He may be out injured and facing surgery, but Denmark’s new Player of the Year Nicklas Bendtner knows exactly what his objectives are as he declared he wants to be one of the best strikers in the world in five years time.

The youngster will undergo minor groin surgery on Tuesday after suffering an injury in the North London derby won by the Gunners by 3-0 and will be sidelined for four weeks, according to Arsenal.

The Dane, who found the net three times in 13 appearances for the Gunners, is quoted as saying by mirrorfootball.co.uk:

Nicklas Bendtner

Nicklas Bendtner

I want to be top scorer in the Premier League, top scorer at the World Cup and, within five years, I want to be among the best strikers in the world.

Trust me, it will happen. I look around at other players, I see my own ability and I can’t see anything that tells me it won’t happen,” said Bendtner in an interview last month.

I’m sure people will think ‘What is he talking about?’ But as I have done before, and as I will do again, I will sit at the other end and laugh at those people when it is all done.

There has never been any doubt in my mind about anything to do with me. You can ask the coaches when I was 16, and even the other [youth team] players.

You need confidence and I have always had it. I have started this season better than I have started any other season, but I know there is a lot more to come and I know the people here know that as well. So I’m quite comfortable about how things are going to progress.

Yeah nick… Once you learn to pass the ball to your own teammates, you’ll be halfway there..

  • Biggy says:

Good on you mate! Keep the faith and work hard on your game.

  • Damn_Gallas says:

    Yeah… you will definitely be.

Just improve on your composure and shooting accuracy.

you are still young and eduardo and RvP are infront of you. 5 years time, you will be the main striker for us together with walcott and vela.

    Thank God he is injured.
Now we have a chance of doing something this year.
    I think he is pafetic.
He’s played how many games? and scored how many goals?
And how many times does he give the ball away and miss the target.

Oh and he wants to be the best player in the world?
    HAHAHAHAH
    LOOOOOOOOOL

    U idiot.
Go back to Birmingham where you belong

I believe in freedom of speech but your comment is very sad my friend, not just because I believe Nick is good but because the way you’re saying you don’t think he’s good is indeed incredibly sad.

      • Peter says:

He isn’t good. He coughs up possession all over the field. And he does this on very simple plays. I like his height and heading ability. When he is playing against our weakest opponents he is capable of doing well.. It just shows that he is over his head in this league and against Arsenal opponents.

        • Leo says:

remember the goal he scored against chelsea last season when everyone else gave up, numerous assists he made for fabregas, and RVP. He is in fact a very good second striker, despite his height and heading ability

  • nn says:

HAHAHAHA, this is one of the funniest things that I have heard all year. Bendtner be one of the best strikers in 5 years. This kid is horrible, gives away possesion far to easily, is not a natural goal scorer, the only thing he has going for him is his height. Bendner will amount to nothing.

  • Joe says:

Gee whiz ! you don’t see the likes of kaka and messi blowing thier own trumpet as much as this tart and I can asure you this is the only time Bender will ever be mentioned along side these world class players. Poor scoring record, pass completion, accurracy etc. He has to aim for arsenals top 5 first. I think him obtaining denmarks finest player award shows thier diminishing youth system rather than Nicklas’s uprising, jog on(after surgery if possible that is)
