Robin van Persie stretched off in pain after only 10 minutes in Italy

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie played less than 15 minutes for the Dutch National side as he was stretched off the pitch after a rough tackle from Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.
Manager Arsene Wenger will surely be disappointed as it’s not the first time the Dutchman returned from International duty with an injury.
The entity of the injury is not yet known.

I was incidentally watching the game. Chiellini won the ball according to the Italian commentators(I however was looking at Robin’s leg).
It was very unfortunate for Robin, that’s for sure, I’m afraid we just have to wait for news.

Robin van Persie will be out for approximately 10 weeks. On dutch televesion they said he has a torn ankle ligament.

Looks to me as though RVP’s ankle got taken out before Chiellini got to the ball.

Its time for Eduardo to show old self as spearhead. This season unfortunately, arseluck can be compensated by depth.
Much as I hate to say it I`m not in the least surprised that Van Persie got injured infact I would have been more surprised had he not, he`s just that sort of player I`m afraid.

Try this on for size against Sunderland. Almunia – Eboue – Gallas – Vermaelen – Gibbs – Rosicky – Fabregas – Nasri – Arshavin – Eduardo – Vela. subs: Ramsey – Clichy – Sagna – Merida – Wilshere -Watts – Mannone. Pre-trial for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
good technically but that midfield is still physically too lightweight. I doubt they would win a header in the whole game. We need more muscle and height in there. Is Song banned or can he play? If he is still available to play then he must start, he was the key to victory against wolves.
AW shouldn’t take a risk with Song, he is one yellow away from suspension.

well it seems everyone are determined to hate Diaby so, then we will get a lightweight midfield, and NO Wenger will not replace him. And if you knew half as much as him about footy you would be 2nd division manager not some “i know how” wannabe that wrote in this blog about “how things should be” “who we should play” ” who we should buy” Cos you know you know nothing. You know that if you were a manager you probably end up loosing every game. What you got to do is LEARN to live with Wengers choices. RVP is very unlucky though. I thought he had a good season. Hope he recovered soon. AW may consider to bid for a new striker during jan transfer season. Pray hard arsenal can go pass the unlucky nov smoothly.

Maybe senderos or silvestre maybe playing in defence while Vermaelen play the DMF role??
Most likely, song will play and he will partner Nasri in that role.
I’ve heard it is 2 – 3 months. Bendtner is under going surgery and not sure how long he will be out. We may have to play Arshavin and Eduardo up front with Fabregas just behind, Van Persie will recover, it is very unfortunate but it means he will be fresh for the second half of the season.
Chelsea are missing A. Cole, Bosingwa and Lampard if it is any consilation.
We can’t forget this gives Vela the oppurtunity to close out games and come on late in games to provide a rest for Eduardo and Arshavin.

I am not surprised. Chiellini was brute force, not a class defender. He will never be like Maldini or Baresi. Italy is not producing quality defenders recently.
