Fran Merida’s agent, “The priority now is to negotiate with Arsenal and in the future we’ll see”

Submitted by Renzo on November 17, 2009 – 18:15 4 Comments

Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida is close to extend his stay with the North London club. After the player revealed he is committed to Arsenal, his agent also provided good news for Arsenal supporters, saying how the priority of the player is to negotiate with the Gunners.

Merida’s agent, Joseba Diaz, said:

I do not know what Atletico are waiting for in bidding for a player who has half of Europe after him. It’s true that as a child he was sick about Atletico but everything has changed a bit. Now his heart and head are with Arsenal.

There are much falsehoods in the world of football because the players do not decide what team they play for.

The priority now is to negotiate with Arsenal and in the future we’ll see. The desire is to keep him at Arsenal and succeed.

After years and years of hearing a players statements, agents statements, Club statements, etc etc during negotiations… I don’t take anything to heart until I read about a deal being signed (and even then a transfer request/sale could be in the offing).
So, at this point, if Merida signs for us, the LA Galaxy, Real Madrid, Athletico, or decides to quit football and try out being an astronaut.. I won’t be surprised.

Merida is an important cog in the future scheme of things as per Le Prof. One, he having hailed from the Cantera, is ably blessed and has the right stuffings in him to perform at the highest level. Two, he is more physical than Cesc, and can really come of age if given a chance.

  • Cameron says:

He is a good player but at the same time his agent could just be playing for a better deal with another club. When I see the deal completed I will be happy though he is a class player.
