Submitted by Jeffrey on November 20, 2009 – 4:00 18 Comments

Finally some good news for Arsenal as Arsene Wenger confirmed that Denilson, Armand Traoré and Carlos Vela are all fit and available for this weekend’s game away at Sunderland.

The Gunners, who lost Robin van Persie and Kieran Gibbs during the International break, are also waiting on the fitness level of Andrey Arshavin, back from the disappointing defeat with the Russian National side.

Ahead of the game, Wenger said

We have no news yet on Andrey Arshavin.

Theo Walcott (knee) is short for the weekend and so is Jack Wilshere (ankle). But Denilson is available and in the squad for the weekend game. Traore and Vela are both fit and available.

Fabianski is available too. Bendtner (groin) is out for three more weeks and Diaby (calf) has a little chance for Chelsea.

Arsenal players getting injuries, and others coming back from injuries is like selling and buying players. This is unique, and it may lead to arsenal taking trophies. When one player is out, another new face come in to replace him. This makes the game so compititive, though injuries are so dangerous.

  • Nando says:

Hopefully, Vela will be given a chance to play this weekend. With all the injuries, he should be one of the first options of the bench if he’s not in the starting lineup. Can’t wait to see what Wenger decides to start up front.

  • paul says:

You have no idea what your talking about. If he is as bad as you say he is then why does he get chosen for Brazil ? Why does Arsene play him? I think I would trust Arsene Wenger’s judgement on whether a player is good enough to play for Arsenal than you.
Have you ever looked up the definition of a SUPPORTER? I think you’ll find that your not one. As far as I’m concerned I support Arsenal the team and whatever team Arsene decides to play in any match that is the team that I will support. That means the WHOLE team.
    Regards.
    Paul.

  • joab says:

you guys better leave denilson alone because that guy is improving his game every day.

  • Dean says:

Shayne and grandfunk diaby, you guys are douche bags. Paul i totally agree with you, and Denilson has a lot of talent, he will come good; and is beginning to come good, that’s why he gets picked in the Arsenal team.

  • Chris says:

I deleted the comments from shayne, grandfunk diaby and blue. Everyone is entitled to have his opinion on this website but not when doing it 100% in CAPS and when it’s a direct attack at a player or staff or other reader.

i think the greatest advantage is that we have a big squad this season and lets hop our big players stay out of the injury list, i mean players like fabregas, gallas, thomas v and song.

  • Jazbo says:

Great to see some of our injured young players now back in the squad, looks like Arsene has a selection poser for this weekend.

  • M. Reyes says:

    VELA VELA VELA VELA!

I really hope vela plays over the weekend!

I must agree with some of you out there. The god of soccer must be a gunner. with injuries, we seem to have a natural mode of rotating players and at the end we will have less complains from players about sitting on the bench and we get to have some variety in our field of play..honestly would love to see all the arsenal players on the score sheet this season with hopefully some trophies and the highest goal scorers/assists..even almunia should be allowed to take a penalty if we get one. Don’t we just love this club!!!!!!!!!

  • Mark says:

My biggest initial worry is left back without Gibbs and Clichy. I am dreading the possibility that Wenger will use Silvestre there. I hope he will consider Eboue (though we might need him at right mid) or Traore there now that he is fit (though that position demands so much running I don’t see how Traore or Silvestre will be fit enough to play there with not many games under their belts).

I would like to see Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen, Eboue across the back with Song and Ramsey in front of them and then Rosicky and Nasri out wide with Cesc in the middle. Eduardo right now appears to be Wenger’s choice up top for RVP. That would leave us with Denilson, Vela, Arshavin if fit, Silvestre, Traore, Senderos and Merida to choose from as substitutes. When you think about the players missing (Gibbs, Clichy, RVP, Bendtner, Walcott, Diaby, Wilshere, Djourou, etc.) and the depth that we still can have that is really amazing. Luckily our injuries so far have come in the areas where we do have great depth.

UP GUNNERS! Denilson is very talented & though he’s very young. His return to the squad will give us more option. We’
ll cruise to victory on saturday against sunderland.

  • Adam Smith says:

I can’t wait for the team selection for tomorrow.Fact, Sunderland have given away the most fouls this season, 176, so expect a physical game.I have a feeling Merida,Senderos,Watt,Silvestre and Vela will be in the squad. It may be a game to early for Vela, and there are unconfirmed reports that Ramsey has a back problem.Theo is another who may well be held back for the SL game.

  • Barry says:

gunners not again. lets continue to believe in wenger and hope that we win the title at the end of the day. the gunners are always the bomb and we will continue to be. peace out!
