Arsene Wenger’s last injury update: Theo Walcott in the squad, Frenchmen and Arshavin could be rested

Submitted by Jeffrey on November 21, 2009 – 4:00 11 Comments

On Friday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger provided his last injury update before today’s game away at Sunderland. The Frenchman confirmed Denilson and Theo Walcott are back in the squad, adding however how the French players and Andrey Arshavin, all involved in the World Cup play-offs may be rested.

He said:

Denilson is back, Walcott and Wilshere are all available for selection. Walcott will be in the squad for Sunderland. Fabianski is not very far, so it [the injury situation] is a bit better.

The French players have played 120 minutes. Arshavin comes back from a very long trip and is very disappointed. Apart from that, it is not too bad.

  • John Muhindo says:

Your decision is our faith. The squad is now big.Sunderland will sweat to day.The game will end as Arsenal 3 : Sunderland 1

  • John Muhindo says:

Even our reserve team can Gun sunderland. No warry to rest players who played play-offs in the mid week for world cup.

  • Damn_Gallas says:

Meaning what no Sagna, and Gallas?

Then Almunia in goal, Eboue RB, Vermaelen and Senderos as the CBs and Silvestre as LB? Or Vermaelen and Silvestre as the CBs with Traore as LB?

Then Denilson, Ramsey and Fabregas. With Eduardo, Rosicky and Walcott up front attacking trio?

Hmmmm this is a delicious line up and I am sure Vermaelen has no problem dealing with Bent..

We will see what Wenger has in mind later…

  • Bingo says:

I hope that Eduardo will score tomorrow. He needs few goals to get to the form he was before the injury. He is an amazing player.

Starting line up: Almunia,Eboue,Senderos,Vermaelen,Traore,Song,Ramsey,Fabregas,Rosicky,Eduardo,Nasri…Subs:Arshavin,Gallas,Sagna,Walcott,Manone,Silvestre,Wilshere. Personally I would also rest Song seeing that he is on his fourth Yellow and God knows we need him for the Chelsea game.Actually for that game i would also drop Ramsey and play a midfield trio of Cesc,Song and Denilson. As for todays game i think Wenger should start with Traore instead of Silvestre.Atleast we are lucky that Kenwyne Jones is suspended coz that guy can be quite a handful for defenders, kind of like Carlton Cole.Otherwise i would love an attacking trio of Nasri,Eduardo and Rosicky coz lets face it Nasri and Rosicky have a good understanding of each other.I was very impressed the last time the two wizards plied the wings for us.Kind of like when Arshavin and Walcott ply the flanks, they also have a good understanding of each other.Otherwise nice to have the lads back from injury Welcome Theo,Vela,Traore,Wilshere.

are u kidding? senderos? silvestre? with sunderland? the only team who beat sunderland at home was chelsea in the first game of the season…after that they were unbeaten…gallas and sagna must play! walcott is probably not fit for starting in the first eleven…maybe just 20 minutes…we must send our best team there…I agree with arshavin though…he needs rested physical and psyhological before the big match with chelsea

i hope song will escape from a yellow this game… a 2-1 win or 1-0 win will be perfect…

    my team:

    almunia; vermaelen;gallas;sagna;eboue/traore;song;cesc;rosicky;nasri;eduardo;vela

    the subs: arshav,walcott,ramsey,denilson,jack,fabiansky,silvestre

  • Mcquizzah says:

it si going to be a middlefield battle,if we control the middlefield we control the game.cana ill be a problem so i was thinking a middlefield trio of fab, ramsey, and song.this game will be won in the middlefield so upfront we need wingers who are versatile;nasri and rosicky, frankly not a big fan of arshavin, will settle for nasri any day.dudu upfront, vermaelean, gallas, eboue, silvestre, almunia at the back.subs;denilson,senderos,traore,arshavin,walcott,vela.

  • Wyrdwolf says:

    @Mcquizzah
Not a fan of Arshavin?? Are you nuts?
He is incredible. He might not be scoring goals right now, but he has supplied the final ball for a huge percentage of our goals this season. His experience and ability have given our young team confidence. He is right up there with Bergkamp in my book.

  • Herbert says:

We can not chat regarding the last game…
Again we were poor and we’ve just prove again that we are a top 4 team and that is it….!!!
When Van Persie is injured,we have no one (and i mean NO ONE) to fill the massive gap…!!!!
Edouardo is obviously over rated (I have always said that) and I just wonder what will happen when Song goes to the African Cup…!!

  • ZAHID says:

    Arsen Wenger is damn good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
