Arsene Wenger, “It is a massive setback because you need consistency to win a title”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was very disappointed after his side’s narrow defeat against Sunderland on Saturday. With the Gunners facing Chelsea next week, the Frenchman labeled the defeat as a “massive setback”.
Speaking after the Sunderland game, Wenger said:
It is a massive setback because you need consistency to win a title. Today we were not capable of doing that and it raises question marks.
We lost a game and we can only fault ourselves because we didn’t score.
Some players were not at their best and we gave a goal away on the only situation where Sunderland could score one today, a set-piece, that sums it up well.
We did not create enough chances either and there was a lack of penetration.

why Almunia? Arsene what happen to mannone?
almunia did good job last weekend..the problem is defend (except varmealan n galas)
how can you say except gallas an vermaelen agree with what your trying to say they are playing excellent at the moment but vermaelen actually fell asleep their for 2 seconds and someone should’ve headed that away from the box when first coming in, in the air. thats what van persie used to do plus another week for diaby bendtner and clichy hopefully they come in to the chelsea game as they are crucial for this game in terms of height at set pieces.
it was just unfortunate, we used our best legs, it was not our day, we lost chances and opportunities to capitalised. the boys could not click as usual, let pray for them against smoking Chelsea. they may pick their rythm in that epic encounter.
cheers!!! Gunners 4 life.
