Arsene Wenger ahead of today’s game, “You will see players like Craig Eastmond and Jack Wilshere”

Arsenal will face Manchester City away from home this evening in their attempt to keep their Carling Cup chances alive. As usual, manager Arsene Wenger will rely on his “team B”, with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Craig Eastmond and Jack Wilshere all set to feature.

Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, the Frenchman said on Tuesday:

It will be a team that has a chance to win. But as well, I want to give a fair chance to those [young] players who have waited for this game.

I believe we have a good mixture of experienced players and young players but we will play young players that is for sure. It will be a typical Carling Cup side. For example, you will see players like Craig Eastmond and Jack Wilshere.

From Sunday we lost Sagna. is an ankle problem but he should be OK for Saturday.

Dear wenger i think you saw how Manchester was equiped and their style of scoring. I know these boys will play well, but stricking from far is very vital to win. Scoring from the box is tricky because when the defence is packed like of chelsea, no way through. That is why Manchester won spurs who were looking for box.” passing the ball arsenal is o.k but scoring must be checked”

      John,

Good point. Against Chelsea we had one direct shot from outside the box.I think part of the problem is that Wenger or his scouts look at players many times before buying and then alter their natural game to play this intricate passing the ball into the goal.Last season Nasri would shoot on site and If I remember correctly Arshavin scored three of his 4 goals at Anfield from outside the box.

it may seem very basic, but on Sunday it was a very wet pitch and the one and only time Cech had to come out for the ball,he fumbled it,Arshavin scored, and it is still debatable if there was a foul or not.

it was evident after 20 minutes that with all the possession we offered no real threat, Eduardo was off the pace, so a few more shots at goal might have been a better option.

My heart wants a win tonight, but i don’t see it as my head says otherwise. It may well be experience for the reserves but a defeat will hurt them more than gaining confidence.

City are a good side. I don’t believe our ‘B’ team can defeat City if the ‘A’ team lost 4-2

yeah well the prime prioritires are CL and the league. third the FA cup. and last Carling cup.
I think Wenger is doing the right thing, giving our young ones a chance to shine. It would be insane to risk any of our A-players to get injured in a non-important game like this. Dont get me wrong here, I want them to win this game, and it would be great to win the whole cup, but we have to set our goals straight. anyone agree?
