Philippe Senderos, “I have held a meeting with Arsene Wenger and I hope to leave Arsenal”

Submitted by Renzo on December 5, 2009 – 3:00 19 Comments

Swiss International Philippe Senderos is close to leave Arsenal after failing to make it into the first eleven of Arsene Wenger’s side. With his only appearance coming in the Carling Cup, the 24-year old needs a new team so as to secure a regular place with his National side in the World Cup Finals.

Senderos told Marca:

I have held a meeting with Arsene Wenger and I hope the door has been opened for me to leave Arsenal in January.

I need to play regularly if I am to make the 2010 World Cup with Switzerland. At the moment I do not have this opportunity and I must now consider my options.

Spain has one of the best leagues in the world and is very attractive to any footballer. I have played matches against Spanish clubs before and their level is very high.

Well, he was good for a while. I hope the money Arsenal get for him can help to get a striker.

  • Chi says:

Watch him batter Arsenal once he gets his move; just as he did when we went to Milan just on loan.

  • joshuad says:

Wenger just said publicly that these guys need to be focused on Arsenal and not the World Cup finals. While many will, indeed, have an eye out for South Africa, for him to come out and say that was very foolish. His days at Arsenal are truly over.

  • Munzali M.M says:

Well, even though Senderos is a fringe player, he wasn’t given enough playing time despite the fact that he can perform better than others. Why dispose Big Phil and retain Silvestre.

  • Schmidt says:

We NEED a cb Vermalin & Gallas will never get as the premiership!

Stop the leakage at back and the goals will come! Eduardo and Vela stop smiling when you loose the ball and get on with playing the game the attitude in general vs Chelski was a joke. Was it not a derby? we played like no body gave a F%$K.

Sell Senderos Silvestre and Use some of the $$$ we got from city scum and buy cheillini.

    • slugboy says:

Is this a piss take? Vermaelen and Gallas have been fantastic this year. we need some support for them, but not many would shift that pairing at the moment.

We have Silvestre and Song that can also play there. Senederous was never going to make it, so thanks Phil, good luck with the next club.

  • HABEEB says:

I dont know what is wrong with AW.What is player like Sylvester still doing at Arsenal.Let him go back to his country and continue there league there. But i think senderos is still OK if he can be playing as a substitute he will later change.AW,Pls we need a striker in January,We cant just continue like this

  • Erick says:

Never thought i would say this about AW bt selling Senderos is the badest decision you wil ever make AW

  • george says:

thank god hes terrible waste of space at arse hes shittt

  • Cameron says:

Please go senderos I want Richards and Gignac.

  • Taz09 says:

To be Honest i think we should play Verm at LB and Phil at CB i think that would work. Gibbs is to small yes he is quick but he has no power. Clichy is always Injured So sell him and hes over rated. Verm is a LB anyway and Phil is Perfect for CB.Big strong ,Fast and With height i think hes good. You don’t play games for AC Milan if your S**t. Silvestre Just kick him out he aint good at LB or CB he used to be good at LB for Man U as he was very quick but hes lost that now. Then we will Need to sort out the strikers as they are all S**T less Van Persie who is a Legend…….. Eddy and Vela come on Wenger Lets face it they aint no good we need someone else but who? We need someone who can come straight in and score loads of goals I personally want Gabby from Villa but he would cost around the 20M mark. This guy would bang goals in for joke his pace and strength would fit in lovely with all the chance hes would get. Let us Know who you would like to see at the Heart of our defense and who you’d like to see Wenger buy in January up front?

  • jamaican_gunner says:

y is wegner living in denial…. he sold ade-moneyour and didnt buy a striker when it has been proven that RVP have never went through an entire season with out an injury and c whats happening now no striker to come in aside from the fact that bendter is injured but wegner has been avoidin to play him as a center forward for his last couple games so i dont see why wegner didnt buy somone to replace RVP as he knows dudu aint the type of person to shoulder an attacking role of the RVP… wegner shud buy…… but check this now gallas wont last the entire season it is impposible for him to last at his age and now look at the replacement silves naaah thats maaad….. senderous clearly doesnt want to play djourou aint fit he is far from fitnesss now so if we get an injury in the back(verminator or gallas) we done cause silves too slow and we have no replacement……. if we use song at the back then we will be askin little denilson to play dm …….. dunno what to say jus ope we looose no one else

  • john-greek says:

Yes we should buy a striker and a defender..I read that we could sign Carlton Cole..Are you sure that he has Arsenal quality??I am not..I have watched Remi..They call him in France “the new Henry”..I have to say that yes,he could in some time reach the Henry standard..Wenger is unlucky this year..Many many injuries. If we find a forward who knows how to score,we have the other players to support him, like Arshavin,Fabregas,Wallcot,Rosicky, etc.Be patient..I think Wenger and Pat Rice are experienced in such difficult situations..

  • KeviN says:

hope he join Atl Madrid and Arsenal get Camacho in return hihi

  • Martin says:

I see no reason in keeping Sylvetre and releasing Sanderos. What happens if both Gallas and thomas V get down of injuries?
What wrong did Sanderos do to be hated like this?
Is Sylvestre any better than Sanderos?-i dont think so.

  • georghi says:

I think phil only lacks experience since his playing time has been limited under wenger. since world cup is coming soon, he needs enough playing time that Arsenal does not have at the moment, so it’s right for him to consider his future elsewhere.
I think wenger should look for a young defender to support Vermaelen and Gallas.

  • True gunner says:

senderos leaving:(….well the only reason i liked him was due to his friendship with cesc!:D
