Arsene Wenger’s injury update after Stoke on Eduardo, Tomas Rosicky, Theo Walcott and more

Submitted by Jeffrey on December 6, 2009 – 4:00 18 Comments

It seems Arsenal cannot enjoy a win without any injury problems ruining it. Emmanuel Eboue, Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo all suffered injuries on Saturday and Arsene Wenger provided his update on this, together with news on Abou Diaby, Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner.

The Frenchman said:

Hopefully we will have good news tomorrow. Eboue and Eduardo have muscle problems. It is too early to say whether (Eduardo) will be back next week.

Theo Walcott should be back and available for Wednesday along with (Abou) Diaby while (Alexandre) Song will return after suspension so we should have two or three players back.

I don`t know how many medics Arsenal employ but I can imagine it`s quite a few and I can also imagine that they don`t come cheap. My experience of physiotherapy is a bit like psychiatry it`s a poor relation of the medical profession. Most of the time they`re shooting in the dark. With all their expertise they seem incapable of getting eleven fit players to last 90 minutes let alone three of four games in succesion. If Arsenal need to boost the player purchase account maybe they should seriously look at pruning the `dead wood`, on and off the field.

Having been a rugby coach I can tell you, with the exception of fractured bones, few players missed more than one game. Hamstrings, pulled muscles, corked thighs, dislocated joints didn`t, in most cases ,even warrant them leaving the field. For most the standad treatment was RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) and during an important match they were told to `run it off“ or failing that got the needle. Luckily in rugby most injuries were in the upper part of the body an could be strapped (we had a horse strapper to do that, no kidding). My own son
had eighteen dislocations of the right shoulder in one season and never missed a match, I designed him a brace. Football today seems to be more about kicking the legs from under the oppostion than letting the ball do the work and playing the game. It`s become a `catty` sport, the rugby theme was “play it as hard as you like but play it fair (and if you do decide to get square do it on he blind side).

Joel Garner had the same problems at Somerset. Height was his main issue.

chelsea do not have the quality to win anything.you saw that against manchester city.they were totally outplayed. chelsea never dominate but still they win.you see against manchester unitwed, they were the weaker team …but the won

against arsenal ,they hardly attacked but still they got the first goal

only against liverpool, they were better.

    so ……..

i cannot see chelsea winning anything.
for me the title race is between arsenal and manchester united.

chelsea won’t win title nor champions league

Wenger pleez pleez buy a goal keeper(Lloris),a holding defender whos tall(mertesacker),a defensive mid(khedira),and a proven goal scoring striker(lukas podolski)

  • Cameron says:

Well Diaby, Song and Walcott is a big help. Walcott and Diaby give us different options to mix things up and Song is just a beast on his day. I win at Liverpool will be what Arseanl need to realy turn their season around. It is important for the mental part of the team.
