Arsene Wenger says injuries will determine January transfer market decision

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger took a quiet approach ahead of next month’s transfer market, declaring how he has no intention of mentioning names of potential signings for the very simple reason that it’s too early for that.
Speaking to The Mirror, the Frenchman said injuries will be evaluated next month and only then, a decision will be taken.
He said:
We’re at the beginning of December, if we are in the same situation with injuries in January then I will see.
But we can’t dream too much of finding a world class player because that’s what is needed to strengthen our team.
But they also need not to be European cup-tied and who is also free so we must hope Father Christmas is good to us!

No signings then.
There are plenty of decent teams who we could sign a striker from. Ajax, Valencia, Lille, Sporting, Roma, Villareal, Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica, PSV, Werder Bremen, Hamburg, Deportivo, PSG, Parma, Genoa, Sampdoria & Zenit Not to mention an unknown gem from a South American or Eastern European team.
Keep the faith and trust Wenger, I am sure he will purchase a striker aswell as maybe a defender/defensive midfielder as he knows Song will be at the African nations.
Same as usual, that basically means no signings.
We want someone like Dzeko, but that won’t happen as Wenger has already said he’s too expensive. Man U now want him! I’ll say no more on that.
Dennis Bergkamp – one of my fav Arsenal players was bought by Bruce Rioch for 7.5million, a hell of alot of money in 1993. How good was he in the Wenger squad!!??
C’mon Arsene, treat us fans just once to a relatively costlier player…..

There have been reports from Spain that Arsenal are looking to sign on loan Bojan Krkic till the end of the season. He’s a good player but not the power house that so many on here think we need.
I know he’s getting old but I think we should sign David Trezeguet in January. He may not have the best pace around, but he puts the ball in the back of the net. And perhaps, some of those cross will actually be for something. Another player I was thinking about is Luca Toni. Keep in mind that I’m just thinking about a player that will be at Arsenal till the end of the season and not long term signings.
I believe that Wenger routinely uses comments like this to manipulate the transfer market (and maybe his existing squad as well).
Having said that, I wouldn’t mind a DM, either. At one point Miguel Veloso was mentioned a lot, but not lately. Still seems good to me.
Or am I missing something?
Now would you like Wenger to say “Yes we desperatley need a striker and two or three more quality players, our Wallets will be wide open and we will buy no matter the price”. Cos that would be beneficial if you want to buy players would it not? Yell to everyone be aware, we coming with our wallets in january…….

No I didn’t, did I.
Just mentioned it because many people get upset and start analysing Wenger’s comments as if he always told the literal truth (see several comments above).
Buy Christian Zapata and Federico Fazio for Senderos (should leave in January), and Gallas & Silvestre (both 32, both out of contract next summer). The duo are tall, strong, quick, tough tackle and can provide scoring at set piece attack.
Here is the best way to spend the approximately 50 million we have…(granted i know we never will)
20 million for balotelli….he is powerful, confident, and arrogant…a quality we could use. he is a killer…something we need…we have tons of selfless playmakers, and no killers, no finishers. he could provide this for us. he also provides us a great right-sided free kick taker.
10-15 million for veloso…strong intelligent and most importantly someone who can fire them in from outside the 18. great passer and strong denfender.
finally i would love to bring in micah richards for the remaining sum…i know he loves arsenal and under wenger i think he could be a dominant CB and provide right-sided cover, shuld eboue leave for psg.
You lost me on balotelli. He’s rubbish and inconsistent. Why do you think Jose doesn’t start him. If you want to make a signing actually look for someone who’s going to make an positive impact.
jose doesn’t start him because at any club jose is at, his personality is the biggest, and he is the “special one” their egos clash. the same happened at chelsea with drogba. with a manager like arsene, who can get the best out of any player, i think he could shine. his upside is more than enough to outweigh his attitude issues.
He may have upside but the fact remains that he is not a striker. He plays on the wings and we’ve already got plenty of that type of player. People are complaining that we have no striker and the signing of Balotelli will do nothing for us upfront. And yes, I’ve seen games when he’s played in a more central role at Inter, but he fails to score and waists a lot of chances. To be honest, I also don’t like his attitude and his arragance on the field. We just got rid of Adebayor and we don’t need another one with his type of attitude issues.

It is,and we all know that, a waist of typing time and energy…
We all know deep down (even if we wish different) that nothing will happen in january… The fact that Wenger already affirmed that “all will depends on the injuries in January” point to the impossible arrival of reinforcements… As soon as Bendtner is fit the situation will be cleared !

The squad at flamengo is big and known to give players out on loan can it be possible any scouts around there to help wonder what does Danielson have to offer in that regard i strongly recommend a look at adreiano he is my pick but then their squad is huge
We need to get a true arsenal player in all aspects we have to think like Mr wanger and i think its the time for arsenal as we have a solid squad we need some enforcement to insure and enforce our ability and agility and technicality for continuous wins without having to break the bank
I strongly believe that this is the right time for arsenal and we could do it for three years in one go providing we get the right players Mr wanger has built a lovely team it just needs a little tweak that that all important tweak we keep losing players it’s a constant battle
Carlton Cole looks likely that one could be an interesting signing. We don’t have a realy english squad so may be a good idea. I like the Sampdoria striker and Gignac would be a good signing. He is strong, 9 caps for france 4 goals, 24 goals last season top scorer, 12 million pounds and is not cup tied.
We are still the best team , I welcome the Russian forward in patnership with Arshavin considering the rules within January transfers. But am much worried coz being used to, and a strong analyst of AW writings and comments, the truth is he might not sign anybody. I call upon every fan to shout it clear to him that his continued stinginess and sturboness is killing the team which we won’t tolerate. At least he should return the respect we’ve accorded him back to us.
