Harry Redknapp on Ruud van Nistelrooy, “I can see him going somewhere like Arsenal”

Submitted by James on December 13, 2009 – 4:00 7 Comments

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp revealed he will not try to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy in the January transfer market, adding how the Dutchman could however end up at Arsenal.

Speaking of the 33-year old, Redknapp said:

He’s a top player. If he’s anywhere near fit, I’m sure he can still play for a while, but I’ve never enquired for him. He would come over here and score – he always has done.

I can see him going somewhere like Arsenal. Tottenham is a big club. We shouldn’t be afraid to compete with these clubs in the transfer market, but what would I do? I have Crouch, Keane and Defoe and Pav. If I got Van Nistelrooy, I give myself another problem.

It is unclear why Harry Redknapp declared the above considering that early this week, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger rubbished such rumours, with the Frenchman saying in one of his press conferences:

It would not be the best of starts, bearing in mind our past relationship! You have my number – you can text me all the names you find!

Redknapp is aware that arsenal is above spurs; secondly wenger need a stricker who is sharp and has not played champions; let Dutch FA compasate arsenal in the process of buying astricker to replace Van-persie.This is from arsenal fan

  • FREDDY KOIGI says:

NOT RUUD VAN NISTELROOY FOR ARSENAL PLEASE——–ADRIANO PLEASE——-ADRIANO HAS MORE POWER, MORE FLAIR, MORE GOALS AND MORE YEARS TO GIVE. AND TELL WENGER, IF I HAD HIS NUMBER, THE NAME I WOULD TEXT HIM IS ADRIANO’S———–THOUGH HIS TONE SUGGESTS HE WOULD BE FURIOUS WITH ME—- BUT THEN AGAIN HE SAID THAT WE CAN STOP DREAMING OF FINDING A PLAYER WHO CAN PLAY IN THE CHAMPION’S LEAGUE AND IS WORLD CLASS & IS FREE—–ADRIANO FITS THE BILL PERFECTLY!!!!!———-AND I HEAR HE HAS SORTED OUT HIS ALCOHOL & DEPRESSION PROBLEMS——-SIZE MATTERS, NOT ALWAYS, BUT SO MANY TIMES!!!.

  • Taophyc Bello says:

I don’t really get this compensation seeking from Dutch FA but Wenger really needs a striker come January. RUUD is another Dutch man prone to injury and considering his age and history with Arsenal, it won’t be a good start just like Wenger said. Adriano is the perfect man cos Arsenal needs a power player….

  • Herbert says:

Adriano is a characterial behaviour individual…
He has no discipline and does not take critics and advises very well…
He often clashes with managers and disrupts the dressing room…
Who would want a player like Adriano???
    NO THANKS!

  • True gunner says:

    villa! i want david villa at arsenal ! ! ! !
BTW I heard theres talk abt wenger buyin van der vaart…………..a guy frm real madrid….um….this is gonna be cool!

  • Samuel says:

If Arsene gets the compensation he,s asking for from the Dutch FA then i,m pretty sure he,ll bring a good striker who will then become better thanks to Arsenal,s style of play .Another Dutc
h player in the Huntelaar ,van der Vaart mould will be great ,so let,s wait and see who comes in next year January .

  • Christian Karlsson says:

arsenal should buy Adriano as he is strong and has a great strike. But I feel huntelaar would be better provided he does not cost too much
