Harry Redknapp on Ruud van Nistelrooy, “I can see him going somewhere like Arsenal”

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp revealed he will not try to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy in the January transfer market, adding how the Dutchman could however end up at Arsenal.
Speaking of the 33-year old, Redknapp said:
He’s a top player. If he’s anywhere near fit, I’m sure he can still play for a while, but I’ve never enquired for him. He would come over here and score – he always has done.
I can see him going somewhere like Arsenal. Tottenham is a big club. We shouldn’t be afraid to compete with these clubs in the transfer market, but what would I do? I have Crouch, Keane and Defoe and Pav. If I got Van Nistelrooy, I give myself another problem.
It is unclear why Harry Redknapp declared the above considering that early this week, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger rubbished such rumours, with the Frenchman saying in one of his press conferences:
It would not be the best of starts, bearing in mind our past relationship! You have my number – you can text me all the names you find!
