Arsene Wenger’s new injury update on Cesc Fabregas, Denilson and Nicklas Bendtner

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger provided his first injury update ahead of next Saturday’s game at the Emirates against Hull City. Speaking on Cesc Fabregas, the Frenchman declared that it’s too early to understand how serious the injury is but provided the good news that it is not a long term injury.

Wenger, who also gave updates on Denilson and Nicklas Bendtner, said:

Cesc had a scan today. We have not had the result yet. The only thing that is sure is that he will not play on Saturday. Beyond that, it all depends on the scan. Is it a tightness that just presents a small risk on Saturday or is it a slight strain – grade one or two? We’ll know that later. If it is a tear it is a small one and the maximum would be ten days. So it is not long-term.

Denilson is back and available for Saturday. But Bendtner, Rosicky, Clichy and Traore will all be too short. The first back should be Traore, maybe for Aston Villa.

So, where is the back up, the next generation?

The AW policy of breeding young players with the idea of turning them into first team stars is flawed.

As any mother will know, in order for her son to fully mature he must leave the comforts of home and cut his cloth in the rough and tumble of life without his mothers protection.

So it is with Wenger`s flock of youngsters. As long as they are at Arsenal with all the palacial comforts they will not mature to the level required.

The sad fact is that he has to breed young footballers for the market place and buy in players from other stables then nurture them into the Arsenal way. Few of the siblings will return.

Saturday`s game against Hull city is a test for arsenal if they can win agame without Fabregas

  • GOONER B says:

The wisest thing for Wenger to do is to move Nasri to Cesc’s position, coz Nasri can handle the playmaking with ease.Believe it or not he played the same role for Marseille and he was excellent.Infact when Wenger bought him i wondered how him and Cesc would play together in the same team coz they were too similar. Now what Wenger should do is still retain the 4-3-3,with Arshavin upfront,Diaby on the left and Maybe Wilshere on the right coz Walcott is not up to his level yet.Midfield of Nasri,Song and Denilson. For Defence we are ok with the exception of Silvestre who i clearly predicted would be torn to shreds by Eagles and indeed he was,So at the moment he is our weak link,I would deploy Eboue at left back but knowing Wenger as I do,he will stick with Silvestre.Anyway if Wenger sticks to my Selection,we should be ok.Again Chris my prediction for the startin line up was correct!!

  • Jaymoh says:

I thnk the game against Hull is a tight one altho we should win at home.wenger should use nasri at the middle, diaby on the left n start eboue on the right.a complete midfield!it will be tough without captain Fab.

  • Henry says:

Diaby is too sluggish anyway he shuld play, wia is Merida?GOODLUCK 2 D GUNNERS AGAINST HULL

  • s says:

The back up? you mean the 5 quality players we got in the second string? the machedas and wellbecks of arsenal? Or the ngogs? Or the whoever Liverpool had on the midfield for Gerrard? You think most teams have a fat string of superstar backups? They are backups for a reason you know.

Jack Stainforth: The best way to approach situations like this is not to moan about how bad things are(even if they are its not going to make things better is it?) i can guarantee you 110 % it will not change the situation the next 2 years. We will be with atleast 80% of this team also next season(wheter you like it or not) To find creative ways to solve the problems are the best, like suggesting how to utilise nasri as playmaker. To problemsovle or atlest attempt to is i am afraid the only way forward, as a total rearrangement of the aresenal team playerswise will not happen, no matter how crap they are. Its a question of money, even with a new manager we wont have 100 millions to buy new players. We may have 20 or 40 and that will give us maybe 2 quality players and one backup? Still a huge majority of the team will be the same “shit” you hate no?

  • Herbert says:

It is just ridiculous that we have to talk about who is going to replace whom…
AW and his mini squad of kids…!!!
That is just so frustrating… ! We are suppose to be a top european club !!! What’s going on???

Well Iet’s watch the game and see… I know that on the physical side we are going to be brutalised for 90 minutes,so we should expect more injuries after this one….

We can win, obviously, because at the end of the day we are just a better side.
