Arsene Wenger, “Denilson is not a free kick specialist. I was quite surprised”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed he was surprised to see Denilson step up and score such a magnificent goal from a free kick to give his Gunners the lead.
Speaking of the first goal, the Frenchman said:
Denilson is not a free kick specialist. I was quite surprised, he was not specially named because it was Nasri who was going to take it and he took it well. I thought first he wanted to cross the ball but he scored. It changed the game.
On the game, Wenger added:
We had to fight. We had problems a little bit to start because we left a lot of physical strength in our last two games at Liverpool and Burnley on Wednesday night and it took us some time to get into the game and to find the pace. In the first half we didn’t look very fresh but we got in front and in the second half I believe even if it was a turning point with the penalty they missed, to me the penalty looked really, really harsh and we scored straight away a second goal and we had plenty of chances after.

Well Mr Wenger, your candidness appreciated ,but he obviously is( a budding specialist), did not seem a fluke at all and certainly showed superb technique, as he did in the goals against Liege and Everton; though this was a sparing partner and not a litmus test, still some of the players unshackled today showed us they can do much much more then they usually allowed/able to in the formation played at the moment. It seems to me and many others I suspect that there is a lot to think about regarding how to really bring the best out of these players which obviously exists, AFTER Fab is back, and before Vpers is back a modification of the 4-3-3 formation , a tactical change , should be on the cards.
Tht wz wantin 4rm da young gunz only consistance wil let us there…top…

Mr wenger, Never undermine any player as long as is in your first team selection. Any thing can happen because they are all valuable.
That was a great performance 4rm Arsenal men. Bt remember all teams will not be like Hull city, remember wat happen against chelsea, man city N man U. Pls lets beg wenger together, We need a sharp stricker by jan. God help us.
Denilson’s already scored a few belters before, one more for collection.
BUT have you seen the true DIABY yet?
He, Song, and Eboue forms Trinity of Funk Soul Brothers
He has some nice skills, opening day against everton aswell. He seemed realy confident after that lets hope he stays that way.
Denilson is a Brazilian with great skills including a magic first touch ,typical of all Brazilian
soccer players ,i,m not suprised .
Cracking first goal by Denilson though I’d have to say he never really stood out after that, however Diaby was massive and showed great control for such a big guy. If these guys keep the confidence high I think we can do well this year.
I thought he was a set piece specialist, just never seen him shoot with one before…
I was impressed with Denilson’s free kick… it was better that RvP… I believe this was the first freekick he took in which he took a direct shot at goal and it resulted in nothing but a GOAL!!!!
It was really great goal!! It totally blew the wind out of the Hull players…
Diaby was another massive player in yesterday’s game. Winning the freekick which resulted in the first goal, setting up the second goal and scoring the third goal himself. If only Diaby is consistent in his play, and is more attentive, he would be a great player.
Despite pouring encouragements to Diaby, I still could not forget how his errors have led us to losing matches and points. I hope he would improve in this aspect.
Gunners 4 life,by now we for done carry this primier league if not 4 d inconsistency and injury, nice play diaby but this should not get into ur head.
Goal setting is very important specially if you want to plan long term.,,`
