[Vote] Theo Walcott: Is he worth the £12m spent in 2006?
Written by Chris on January 2, 2010 16:00
Theo joined the Arsenal in January 2006 for a fee of £5 million rising to £12 million based on appearances including internationals. At the time, there was a lot of publicity over this so called wonder kid who went to the World Cup in the same year, supposedly on the advice of Arsene to Sven-Göran Eriksson.
Before he had hardly kicked a ball for his club the pressure and expectations, in my opinion, was enormous and unfair on the lad.
He will be 21 in March and his total number of appearances in all competitions are 116 of which 52 were as a substitute. In return he has scored 15 goals.
We know he is quick and on the 23rd December he became the fastest player over 40 metres in Wenger’s tenure. He has had a few injuries, the severest being an operation on both shoulders which sidelined him for 4 months last year, but questions are now being asked about his all round performance, four years on, so the poll today is what you the fans think.
Will Theo become an Arsenal great? Vote above and do leave a comment to explain your decision.
