Hasmat’s United Analysis: Worrying times for Arsenal

Submitted by Hasmat on February 2, 2010 – 19:00 44 Comments

Now this is going to be a quick and short analysis as I was too frustrated during and after the game to write a proper analysis. Every year, Arsenal fumble at the most important games. I stated a few weeks back that 14 days will determine our season and so far it is looking like the same old story.

We lost to Stoke and crashed out of the cup, then went to Villa and luckily came back with a point and finally, Manchester United came to the Emirates and gave us another battering, which is unacceptable. No more excuses, most of the players have been playing together for like 3 years and still they are too many weaknesses.

No Leadership in Defence

The left back area was deep in trouble, mainly because Nani was brilliant, but also because Clichy had the worst game in an Arsenal shirt. Yes it is good that our centre backs go up front but we must use a bit of common sense. Against Everton, Pienaar scored when he ran through unmarked. United’s second goal was a simple counter attack and Rooney ran through unmarked to slot his 100th goal.

William Gallas saved Arsenal blushes by making a few crucial tackles but overall, everyone at the back was poor. Almunia tried to do his best but failed again as Nani’s first should have been dealt with.

Any defenders know that when a player is running towards goal, you tackle him; something Clichy clearly forgot when Park scored. There is definitely two out of the three goals that could and should have been avoided.

Midfield

Song was back and probably the best player for Arsenal but no one else really turned up for the Gunners. Denilson was slacking and could lose his place to Diaby. Fabregas tried his best to get the home side going, but again lack of communication and over elaboration saw Arsenal miss numerous chances.

Attack

Now everyone seems to praise Arshavin week in week out but the Russian is not performing. I disagree with Wenger when he said that great players will do something special in a moment. Not at all. Tevez is a great player and he works his socks off for Man City from start to finish!

Arshavin was the best attacking force but I felt, in the first half, he should have squared it rather than shoot. His decision making was not right but I want the Russian to turn up and play every week, not just against the big teams. If you are being paid ridiculous amount of money to do the best job in the world, then I always expect you to perform.

Also, tactics was wrong! I felt Bendtner should have started to give powerful presence up front and push Arshavin to the wings, where he is most effective.

Star Man Award

Nani was amazing. I don’t understand the reason for some people giving him a lower match rating than Rooney. He was by far the best player, scored once and set up two goals. What more does he need to do?

Future

The players need to come out and beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. That is a huge task. Maybe the title will be out of reach once again but we have no one to blame but ourselves.

I am seriously worried about the future of the boss and Cesc Fabregas. At the start of the season, Wenger said that if we did not win anything then his plan would have failed. A few weeks ago, he refused to sign a contract and I know that last season he was tempted to sign for Madrid.

My gut feelings tells me that Wenger is waiting to see if this current team can go far and match his ambition. If they cannot win something, then I think he might walk. Fabregas may well leave if Barca come for him. I do not think he will be rejecting them again, especially if Wenger is considering his own future.

I understand that my view may cause uproar between fans but if you look at the signs from the manager in the last few weeks; they all raise questions. And his last analysis of the performance against United just shows that even he was baffled by the team.

Let’s just say I hope I’m wrong with this one!

Bendy still a long way off match fitness , so is walcott and nasri needs a few games after injury too. denilson playing poorly atm but he gets critisised even when he’s playing well ! Clichy seems to be error prone at big moments which is worrying for him after all the experience he now has, and aluminium is having the worst season of any arsenal goalkeeper in living memory! I think the team has a mental block against chelsea and utd, we look scared to put a tackle in. Against the other teams we play without fear and are still top of the scoring charts so don’t lose faith yet after 1 defeat in 11 ! we are close to the top and can still improve alot. Come on gunners!

  • jamie m says:

Just to many average players who couldn’t give a shit about the fans or the club thats the bottom line.Someone needs to tell Wenger its not total football its total bollox.I’m not sure how many more years without even the sniff of a trophy he can continue to decieve the fans before enough is enough.

  • danny says:

he shouldn’t be baffled by the team, it is his team, his tactics and his responsibility. cesc will leave and no one will blame him. wenger won’t renew next year, i am sure he realizes his experiment has failed (he is not stupid) and he isn’t going to completely change his philosophy now. he will leave next year and say look i left you in a new stadium with lots of good young players, money in the bank and go enjoy.

shame is he doesn’t do it this year, because nothing will change until he leaves and i think it is time we went in a new direction and philosophy.

  • pete says:

lucky to come away from villa park with a point?, if i remember correctly we hit the post and bar, we was very unlucky not to come away with 3 points mate, at stoke it was 1-1 with 20 mins to go, it couldve gone either way. wenger didnt want a replay he brought on arsha, eddy and rams to win us the game it didnt work out, thats life. manu were there for the taking i cant explain why we didnt win or for that matter put in a performance capable of winning, 1st goal was so important, almunia fluffed it when any other keeper in world football wouldve caught or tipped over and the boys lost belief from there. our boys will do the business on sunday and everything will be rosy again and wenger will be a genius again, apparently 1 loss after 10 unbeaten, wenger is the worst coach we could have at this moment and should be sacked, you people are a disgrace, bow down and obey the king, hes done more for this club and laid a foundation down for us to dominate world football when hes packed up gone, WILL THE REAL GOONERS PLEASE STAND UP!!!

  • pete says:

CHAVS GET READY FOR A BEATING ON SUNDAY THE TOP DOGS IN LONDON ARE COMING TO TAKE YOUR PEDIGREE, UP THE GOONERS, UP THE ARSE. ARSENAL TILL MY LAST BREATH.

  • MikE says:

sadly i think you may have a point re aw and certainly cesc.

nothing is forever though and maybe arsenal and aw both need a change and new direction?

martin o’neill could be our next manager.

  • eddie says:

“My gut feelings tells me that Wenger is waiting to see if this current team can go far and match his ambition.” Are you serious?!?! THIS IS HIS TEAM!!! He can’t quit because the team he puts out there is mentally fragile and tactically deficient! He has to coach them on the training ground and pick players of necessary mental fortitude, so his departure would be a cop out. I think he should fess up.

It’s either: “Sorry, I f*cked up, the game moved ahead faster than I thought possible and our policy is not sustainable in the current environment. I will therefore rebuild my side this summer”. Or he says: “I will finish my contract and then leave Arsenal in 2011 with a great legacy: training facilities, stadium, youth academy, financial health, some quality players, expansive fanbase, great reputation”.

Either one works for me because at least we get finality. We get a decision. We get A or B. We don’t just muddle along, blaming our shortcomings and deficiencies on youth or injuries or financial doping. And if we hire a bloke who brings in a couple of marquee players and renews his squad every 3-4 years, fine. I don’t mind that as long as we’re bringing home the odd FA Cup, 2 or 3 out of every 10 League titles, occasional European finals. Point is, at that stage, success is self-perpetuating. Winning trophies convinces top players that your club is the place to go, a place where medals are available with relative frequency.

I love Arsene Wenger, but I adore The Arsenal, and my wishes aren’t sour grapes but a quest for black & white, for direction and for candour. I can’t take the muddling along and the PR bullsh*t we get fed every year. Something has to change.

    • Chris D says:

Totally agree with you eddy especially ” matching wengers ambition or he’ll leave” . Then 1:- he put this team together if it’s not good enough he shouldve put together one that is and 2:- spend some of the 30 mill you said you had to cover our weaknesses which the whole football world can see except a 5mill a year manager

  • danny says:

we need a manager that is hungry to win everything. NO ONE can dispute that he isn’t interested in anything other than the league and champions league and i personally do not understand how the the board of arsenal football club find that acceptable that a club of our size is only interested in winning two of the four possible trophies they enter every year. two tournaments that are so hard to win (and certainly no disgrace if you don’t).

it makes no sense and shows how wenger has become too powerful at the club.

  • Gunna4Life says:

I don’t know where to start. First of all, if Wenger were to leave, it’s not as if he’d leave a failed enterprise of which he has no culpability. It doesn’t take a genius to realize we needed to buy the likes of a Lukaku or Remy. Yes, I agree….Arshavin hasn’t been producing….and he wasted two goal opportunities because of his own selfish greed of catching up to Fabregas’ goal tally. His greed and Denilson’s laziness are very damaging to our title chances, as unobvious as it may seem. Clichy….wow, what can I say….I almost feel as though part of his layoff has been because of a mental block in conjunction with an injury. Speaking of our fullbacks, both he and Sagna are sh*te at crossing the ball into the goal mouth. On top of that, what’s the point of passing it into the area when we don’t even have the quality to head the ball in?! And if you compare our attack to that of United or Chelsea, the latters are both very direct, unlike Arsenal, who pass the ball around the outside of the 18. We don’t have that final thrust of the sword. And I think the reason our players always get injured are twofold…one…they’re demure. Two….because of the style of play with many quick passes, they’re more apt to get nailed by an untimely challenge or tackle. So although it’s pretty, it’s vulnerable. Although we’re in third, for the class we’re supposed to be, we have a lot to do to fill that gulf between us and the title.

  • Herbert says:

Breaking News: Fran Merida has signed a pre-contract with Atletico Madrid… (L’Equipe- France Football- Revista La Liga)…

  • Gunner says:

I agree there was no defensive leadership. I agree there was no midfield communication. I also agree that Bendtner should have started up front because he would have been something to aim at. Some air balls toward him might have meant that MU did not pick up possession so quickly and in turn the fast break tactic may have been slowed down ‘in theory’. Also with Vidic and Ferdinand absent MU could have been weaker on air balls! Maybe!
Would any of these have made the difference? I really do not think so. I fully agree that it was tactics and strategy which were the most damaging. The sad thing is that I just cannot see where Arsenal can find a successful counter strategy to to a team that pulled all 11 back and then ‘pounced’ on Arsenal possession as it closed in on goal. Once they had gained that possession their superior speed endurance and fitness level meant that no matter what communication was or was not going on! It did not matter, because MU broke into the attack, and then back into defense again, and then attack, defense, and so on at such speed that Arsenal were simply not fit enough and fast enough to cope.
If Wenger has no counter strategy to that, then he should step down because to finish ahead of MU a team needs this.
    Gunner

  • Chris says:

I can understand the frustration of Hasmat.

I don’t agree with all he said today, but yes, it’s not easy to stay uninterested after Sunday. I agree on Fabregas, he’s young, hit top form, sooner or later he has to take a decision on whether to stick with Arsenal where trophies are NOT guaranteed, or move on.

I compare him with Batistuta in a way, who spent 9 years with Fiorentina, never won anything important and when it was becoming too late to win, left for AS Roma where he won the Serie A.

This is not an easy moment for Arsenal, that’s for sure, especially with Chelsea coming up immediately next. We have to stay strong and support the players and Wenger, absolutely, but this doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t react to a second humiliating defeat at home against a top team in the Premiership.

    • Darren says:

I have to agree with your Batistuta comparison CHRIS , and even add Alan Shearer to it. These players were loyal to their clubs and have very few medals for their reward . Cesc will want to win something in his career, but will Arsenal fulfill his ambitions . Its not looking good so far. here’s hoping for the best !

  • wesco says:

i must confess that am very angry with ashavin , he has been playing badly lately, but instead of keeping his mouth shut, he is always the first to go public and complain about the club not standing any chance in the league yet he is the most guilty party. on Sunday against united it was obvious that he was very selfish and greedy with the ball refusing to give the ball to a well place colleague on several occasions. he did same thing against stoke by refusing to give the ball to walcout to score. i wonder why wenger has refuse to correct him. i don’t know how long wenger will keep using Dennison. but i think it time to separate some lazy players out of the team.they just simply refuse to change. some other players too have to put in maximum effort all the time to show their seriousness because its looks as if they are not committed enough to their duty.

    • Gunner says:

      Wesco
Youre comments about Arshavin might well be true, I also agree with you on Denilson, perhaps he can perform well in the future? However he should head for the bench after this one you are correct, so too should Almunia, Clichy, Nasri, and Rosicky in my view. Why? because none of them performed to an acceptable level. Lee Dixon mentioned that Clichy was slow because he was coming back from injury. If that assessment is true, then why is he in the team? If a player is not at full fitness then he should not play. MU were fully aware of that and took full advantage with Nani.
Concerning Arshavin, in my view he is much more effective out wide where can run at defenders. He is talented enough that he can fill in at CF yes, but not long term, it gets too crowded in the middle for him. A striker needs to be able to hold up possession and play one two’s bring other players into the attack. Arshavin likes to run at defenses. Once again Wenger is strategically off the mark.

  • ryan says:

i think a lot of reasonable comments here. i think we can all respect what wenger has done for us, but it’s hard to keep getting humiliated and pretend everything is great. we don’t need to spend £50, we don’t need to win the league every year or sack the manager (madrid style) and i don’t think we need a drastic change of mentality, just a bit of common sense from wenger or someone else who can provide it. like his insistence on quoting stats whenever someone questions denilson’s ability. it’s all very well that he has good stats, but his stats don’t tell you if his ’successful pass’ was a hospital pass which put our defense in danger, his ‘interceptions’ don’t say if it was he who got shrugged off the ball to lose it in the first place, and they say nothing about genuinely how well he is playing. sure stats are interesting and can help develop a clearer picture of a player, but they are only half the story and i am sick of hearing a blatantly poor performance being brushed aside as good because the stats only tell you such basic information as if a pass reached its target and not if it was actually under-hit, if he should have passed to someone else in a better position, if he slowed the game down etc.

i appreciate how he doesn’t want to attack his own players in public to lower their confidence, but i think it’s questionable whether telling someone a poor performance was a good one is going to help either. i hate ferguson and prefer wenger’s way of dealing with players, but sometimes (as he did at anfield) you just have to stand up and tell players it’s not acceptable. wenger and the players are equally to blame i think, but as manager he has to take responsibility for why we keep failing. it’s like it’s ridiculous that song goes to the acn for a couple of weeks and suddenly we have no protection for the defense. song is a very young guy who’s only been in the team one year, it’s bad that we can’t cope without him and there’s no one else in the squad who can play his role nearly as good. but we knew song would be at the acn and yet we still go into those games experimenting with other players in his position as though we didn’t have time to work out a solution months ago! it’s just very frustrating and not really good enough. now we didn’t buy a striker and what happens if bendtner gets injured now? no rvp, no eduardo, no vela i don’t think. so arshavin returns up front even though he rarely scores and only has a VERY small number of assists all season and we find ourselves again trying to get behind big teams with short players. if it was a scenario which was incredibly unlikely you could forgive it, but wenger has seen the injuries our squad gets and already has and who here would really be surprised if bendtner got a bad injury or arshavin or whoever else in the next game or two?

    • Gunner says:

      Ryan
All of what you say is very on the mark and very relevant no doubt. I agree that Arshavin is not being utilized correctly.
It is also clear to add that Sunday’s game was exactly like last seasons CL Semi. So one has to conclude that a year later, Wenger and his team have learned nothing strategically about the way MU play away from home. Despite the fact that they have been humiliated by them twice in front of the Arsenal fans, both results were 3-1 scorelines but not a single person could realistically deny that both matches should have finished with bigger margins.
Another thing Wenger would do well to learn from MU is how to put that bit extra into a big game. Mike Phelan referred to this right afterward on Sunday. When the money is down MU simply roll up their sleeves and give it all out effort. If Arsenal profess that they do the same then it is simply not apparent to me when I watch them play in big games. They just do not seem to have had that bit of extra motivation, fitness and prep that you need for a big one

  • Herbert says:

Hasmat, man, your analysis is spot on and correct…
You have pushed the pin in the right hole…

I will just add that AW and some fans keep saying that Chelsea and Man U will drop some points, well they might, but the fact is they might not… Chelsea and Man U might go into an unbeaten run…!! We did it before!! Why not them??

It is pure speculation from AW and you don’t expect other teams to work for you…!!!

The major point is that we have to beat Chelsea, not draw, win !! That’s the only way we can still be in course for a league title as long as we also deal with Liverpool accordingly…

Also you are right regarding AW and Fagregas… I will not blame our captain if he decides to leave at the end of the season if we don’t win a trophy… But the most worrying thing is that he still might leave even if we do …!!

    • Gunner says:

Herbert you are bang on. I would like to second that. Other teams do not work to help you. Why should they? I can further add that if MU play like they did on Sunday from now on till the end of the season, then they will not drop many points!
Anyone can speculate, but without a Championship ‘winning’ strategy in place Fabregas will not remain an Arsenal player for long more. It is up to Wenger to find that strategy and it is clear that up till Sunday last, he has not found it.
Exciting football is not necessarily winning football. MU do both, and they do it well. Its Wenger’s job to find that and he has failed in recent years. He should step down if he cannot. He did in the past and he deserves credit for that but we are in a new era now.

my dear chris,in a recent post you or someone else made mention of my question some months ago which was will you be so confident in february?i hope you are.wil surely remind you by the end of february.i truly hope i am wrong though but experiece and common sense tells me better.it won’t be long now.i ask you again, will you still be confident by the end of this month?

  • Hasmat says:

Well iam not Chris but I want to answer this question!…..If Arsenal can pull off a win against Chelsea and Liverpool then we can be in the race again….(hulll currently holding Chelsea to 1-1)…I would just like to point out that my analysis does not ask for the sacking or change of manager…….I just want to see the players turn up on the most important day….when you play for any club you are not just playing for the 60,000 people who come to watch you but you are counted on by millions of fans across the globe. Therefore they need to play on the day!

  • Gunner says:

I have read some good comments on here, and I have thrown out some reasonable observations too in response. Is there any out there who can see where I am coming from concerning Arsenal.

  • Gary says:

Before the Chavs turned us over,i did’nt hear all these negative comments, whose fault is it RVP & NB got injured, then Clichy & Gibbs,it is just our misfortune they all came at a time when they were all playing so well.We have a goalie who does his best but when we are on top of our game he makes a mistake we can cope with it,but against the top sides we tend to push too far forward to get back in the game,Clichy had a bad day,Arshavin wanted to win it alone, but all in all we still had 18 attempts to Manure 11,with a bit of luck we could have had three goals before they scored,it is not all doom and gloom….Manure & the Chavs will still drop points this season, lets judge Arsene & our team in May not now……..COME ON ARSENAL………

  • wenger Illusionist says:

HASMAT=CHRIS and CHRIS=HASMAT..,The same insecurity that we will loose our best players because we ‘dissapoint’ them and not really good enough to deserve them ; and the same bizarre suspicion of the very same usual suspects .i.e. somehow Arshavin who is doing his best , sacrificing his game, to fill Arsene’s whimsical idea of him as CF, is not really Arsenal enough, not working enough. when he scored the brilliant 4, you were quiet, when he turned our season around last year you were pretty quiet too, Sure was so sure of himself that he made judgment error couple of times but that is only because he knows and has scored from these position often, his directness and cheeky confidence ( bless god, we have one with that asset). He is not fully fit ,and he never gets a breather, may he and we deserve a pivot for him to play with and around and his full effectiveness will show.
( by the way, no one said this , I think, and it may sound crazy, but we missed Eduardo, I really think that his one-two around/in the box are second to none in our team and that aspect of his game, alas not his scoring anymore, is very very brilliantly instrumental for us )

It is our Commander in Chief that I have much more of a problem with
Not just and only the thin squad, the wrong tactics , this or that blindness, but for his lack of leadership when needed, his sulken complaining dejected face, on the bench with Rice, his constant complaints to the officlals instead of directing the troops conducting like a good general, giving some orders, reacting to tactical frailty before the damage done , like our left side that was visibly a catastrophe waiting to happen for entire half an hour before Nani’s brilliant goal.etc ect

Having said, do not worry Arsene goes nowhere, he is a man of his word, his project is incomplete, it is his legacy, if he leaves the club in thius state he will be tarnished for ever, AND he really truly believes in this project , incredible as it may seem.
THE ONLY PLACE BEFORE RETIREMENT FOR ARSENE IS REBUILDING THE FRENCH NARIONAL TEAM AND WINNING THE WCUP WITH THEM. That will be Arsene’s last chalenge and I sure hope he will get with us the CL and the preniership at least once more before that!.
Same goes for FAB, only if he really and truly looses faith in Arsene he will leave, but otherwise he will stay with us for few more years, Arsenal provides him the platform to become the best midfielder in Europe, once that has happened , and Xavi aged a little more then He will return to Barca, 3, 4 years I would say, Unless that is we bottle big time, which I do not think we will. In anycase Fab will leave before Wenger will.

    • Chris says:

Just because we share the same point of view, though not entirely this week, doesn’t mean we’re the same person.

It is natural that genuine and passionate Arsenal supporters are bitterly disappointed after such a heavy defeat, nothing strange in that.

  • hamma says:

Overall i’ll say its a good analysis. However i disagree Wenger has any intention of leaving the club. Besides if he decides to leave, for me the exit is wide open.Hasmat seems to be implying that wenger will leave because the boys are under-performing.Well I dont remember anybody forcing his hand as he bought all of them in accordance with his taste and refused to buy an attacker even when persie goes off to a long term injury. Hasmat says it as if our boys dissapointed him (wenger) and the fans instead of the other way around. Therefore wenger has no right whatsoever to blame the young lot for what is a major fault on his part. If we can’t win trophies it is due to him and if we do win, with enphasies on “if”,then ha can also take the credit. As for fabregas i dont even know what makes him stay.

  • Jason says:

Nothing like going to play the chavs after THAT performance on Sunday, but we don’t know how they will react after 2 hard away games where they have also dropped points.
I’m no expert, but certain things seem to stick out a mile. Almunia is having a recurring nightmare, and the thought of Drogba and Anelka facing him is going to give him another one.
That said, I think our biggest problem this sunday is going to come at L/B. Clichy just is’nt performing at the moment, and to all those fans of his, he just has’nt been the same player since the 4-4 with Spurs last year, and maybe even further back to the last minute pen v Birmingham in 07/08…..It could be match fitness, or could be confidence.
You know that on Sunday he will be targeted again, probably by having to go up against Drogba when he drifts over to the flanks and I would consider a change in the line up, just for this game.
When Wenger signed Vermaelen, he had been playing at left back for Ajax. Not only would he be a far more physical opponent for the Chelsea forwards in the air at that position, he would also offer great anticipation, technique, pace, passing , confidence, a great attitude and as we’ve all seen this season, he knows where the goal is!!
This would mean a return for Sol at C/B for this game. I’m certain that this is the type of match that he could really prove to be a key component. Sol may not have the pace of before, but he still offers the kind of strength, power and experience that would prove harder for Drogba to break down with his physicacality. Also, due to the lack of pace, it is much less likely that we will get caught on the break as much, as Sol will only cross the half way line for set pieces!!
We can only pray that Diaby is fit to replace Denilson in C/M, to help Song aswell.
At the top I would go for Arshavin on the left, Bendtner in the Middle, and on the right I’d go for Theo. To all those who go WHAT!!, think back to the game at the emirates. Chelsea’s first 2 goals where created by ………Cole breaking forward from L/B, something he has been doing quite a lot of lateley. Then Wenger put on Theo. Although he did’nt really create a great deal in that game, just Theo’s presence made Cole re-asses his options, and he barely crossed over the half way line after Walcott’s arrival, due no doubt to his fear of being destroyed for pace . A repeat of these tactics could limit Chelsea’s attacking threat down that wing.
This still leaves us with one of the 3 stooges in goal…..It’ll probably be number 1 clown, Almunia, but we’d be better off with Bob Wilson (now)!!

My team for Sunday: Almunia-Sagna-Gallas-Campbell-Vermaelen-Song- Diaby-Cesc_Arshavin-Bendtner-Walcott.

    LET US PRAY!!!

It is the high time Wenger released Denilson-for free-. He has no price tag and does not deserve to be sold. As a senioer player in Arsenal his performance is in the downward trend. we are not asking for a favour, we are asking for justice.

hi guys im back-yeah its the man u all love to hate.but ill keep airing my views.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm seems a lot of us are now realising that we have a huge problem in our hands. Is it still “in arsene we trust” or has the music changed?
last time i was very passionate abut this issue, some dick head called me an imbessile.Clearly he is not a true arsenal fan!
I stilll feel that wenger should remain as asenal manager but must be compelled to buy experienced players. We need a massive clear out.
Danielson, ebue, almunia, walcot and bedtner have no buisness there. We need not spend 60 million but surely need to spend about 20 million to get a POACHER!
Our defence is tight except for sagner who i think lacks confidence.how i wish we had a glen johnson who is never shy to go ALL THE WAY and also score.
Clearly arsenal players are boys going up against men.Why do they always fumble agaist the big teams and even some so called small teams??
Did you hear what evra’s comments/?Its really a shame that he now has no iota of respect for us but can you blame him??We must blame our manager first.
If wenger claims the board wont allow him to buy playrs that he should take the path of honour and resign because this is what u need to succed!
You may hate feguson but his ways are yeilding fruits. No player can ever dream of disrespecting him or attempt to derail his set targets.Ask ronaldo, beckam van nistelroy.
Same goes for murinho. These men have come for a purpose-to win all winables.Unlike wenger who gives priority to only the premireship and champions league and in the end WINS NOTHING!
weather he walks this year or not is not an issue. So many world class coaches are itching to come to arsenal.
The transfer window has closed and ONCE AGAIN THIS MAN BOUGHT NO ONE!This is what he does every year.fabrigas has asked for new faces.Henry did the same and when he failed to see any he left for barca.may i inform you that should we fail to win anything this year, fabrigas will return to barca.i wont be surprised if ashavin goes too.
Lets wait and see what sunday will bring.I just hope we wont be demolished cos man utd was childs play.Chelsea are on fire at the moment.
    Its a shame.

i CALL UPON ARSENE TO MAKE SOME TOUGH CALLS…

    JUST SEND THIS TEAM OUT….

    ———–fabianski—————-
    sagna,gallas,verma,clichy(or eboue)
    ————song——————
    ———-cesc,diaby————–
    ——theo,bendtner,arshavin—–

doesnt matter if we get beat…i’m sure these lads would give it a fight and not collabse

I’m sorry but NASRI and ROSICKY seem to be taking things for granted..AND DENILSON SHOULDNT EVEN BE ON THE BENCH !!!

And Gallas and Verma should be told unless we are far behind and badly trailing…they shouldnt just unnecessarily lumber forward leaving our left back exposed !!!

I’m serious about EBOUE for LEFT BACK…the guy can defend…or atleast defend better than clichy !!! the guy attacks the ball when we dont have it !!!

chris, whether i disappear for so long and appear now is not the matter at hand.if u take notice,i have not made any contributions lately,we all have different schedules.we have been defeated and drawn matches recently and i didnt post on the blog.do not deviate from my question.i have always told you i am not a blind supporter and i refuse to hide my head in the sand hoping other clubs will lose so we can win.there is no way youwould have forgotten not too long ago that we had the invisibles and didnt have to pray for teams to lose matches for us to win.it is unfair of you to make that statement about appearing after a heavy defeat.in the past three to four months, how many times have i posted on this blog?i ask u again and do not beg the question, are you still as confident that we will win a trophy this season?

  • one ede says:

    ok mate.i truly hope u r right(even though u think am not).goodluck.

  • Ted40110 says:

Speaking of our fullbacks, both he and Sagna are sh*te at crossing the ball into the goal mouth. I think that. Are there any comment?Let share.

    • lucbyrnes says:

and whom do you recon is going to win a header in the box? dont blame our defenders for the lack of attacking prowess in our striker dept. the gigantic eduardo? how about the always broke down rvp? the 5ft 2 arsha? we will not win the league or ucl until we get a goalie who isnt a total joke and a true center forward. and bendy is not a world class cf.

I hang my head and finally admit it – something deep inside Arsenal has to change. We can never compete at the top with current policies, current squads, current playing tactics. I’d hoped that Gazidis would have pushed the Prof hard to loosen his stubborn grip. It hasn’t happened. AW makes great business sense in the current economic climate but greater business sense is to win silverware. The Emirates is a place for losers! This season, AW showed no regard for any domestic cup competition while knowing that winning the Prem is a pipe dream with the players and injuries we have. I was gutted by his attitude to the Cups. The glee inside fan bases of clubs still competing for the Cups is deafening. Grrr. Sadly, I know of 6 fans who will not renew their season tickets… With players like Fab leaving, the rot will set in.
So, finally I have to plead for change. Arsenal and we fans deserve to have STAR players in key positions with competition-winning skills and commitment, especially forwards. But the needs are everywhere on the pitch and for too long we have stuck plaster over very serious gaps – from the goal mouth to the front line.
Looking inside the stadium at that ring of successful cups is depressingly dated. Away fans think it’s a joke. I will be FOREVER a gooner but I can’t continue blindly to shout that we must be patient. AW, please please – we deserve the best – now.

am i the only one here that really misses ade25?

  • Peter says:

My dear Arsenal pals, we all agree the the match against Chelsea will decide our cup hope this season. Without writting alot I urge Wenger and his technical team to consider playing Vemelen as a defensive midfielder in place of the hopeless Denilson. The back four should include Gallas, Clichy(??) Sagna and Cambell. The midfield should have Fabrigas, Vermerlen, Song and the forwards Arshavin, Nasir(?) and Rosisky. Manone should be in goal.

If we are to have any hopes we should avoid conceeding a goal in the first half hour. This is Arsenals biggest weakeness. Always trailing!!

my fellow arsenal fans, what more can i say?Chelsea have exposed arsne wenger’s lack of ideas.
clearly AW has nothin more to offer arsenal. We are out of the title race,FA cup, carlin cup and definetely not win the champions league.it would take some luck to even remain 4th the way things are going.
These players are no longer happy with AW’s policies.Ashavin boldly said we lack class.fabrigas has hinted he will go back to barca.
Can someone tell me what we have out there except for fabrigas, vemalin, song, ashavin and probably nasri?
What are walcot, danilson,Almunia(who seems to always look confused)clichy ,sagna and bedtner still doing in arsnal fc?
What aresnal is massive reorganisation. Its has gone beyond buyin just a striker.Chelsea treated us like boys(and thats what we are compared to them). We need to bring in players. The issue of not spending has ruined this club.We must spend to GET RESULTS!!!!!!!
And if the need be we get a new coach who is willin to explore and not afraid of big name signings. This is what scares mr wenger.
2 defenders,2 strong midfielders, and 2 deadly poachers are what this club needs if they are hungry to win anything.
We are no more interested in flamboyant football that yeild nothing!we are no more intersted in makin money for the club and breaking hearts of fans that pay to watch!!!
we are no more intersted in AW’s flimsy excuses of how the club may not be able to pay wages if they buy players.Other clubs are in similar situations or even worse but find a way to pay wages. We have been deluded enough.
Again arsenal have failed to win the EPL.Any attempt to continue with this useless policy of grooming will result in the EPL eluding this club next year and year after.
The plain truth is that AW has failed and must either be shown the exit door or compelled to bring in new players and sell off some. This will ensure competition and get everyone on their feet.
