Arsene Wenger after the Chelsea defeat, “We felt we were the better team”

Written by Jeffrey on February 8, 2010 – 4:30

A draw against Aston Villa and back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and Chelsea mean that Arsenal have a mountain to climb if they want to be crowned champions at the end of the season.

Speaking of yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, Arsene Wenger believes the Gunners were the better team, the same words he declared after the 3-0 defeat at the Emirates.

Speaking to Sky Sports 1, the Frenchman added how his side are now outsiders for the title but will keep on fighting until the end.

He said:

It is difficult to swallow a defeat like that when we felt we were the better team.

Chelsea defended well until the last minute so you have got to give them credit.

We are [now] outsiders but we will fight until the last day of the season. I believe everyone can drop points. Let’s come back to win our next game first and then see where we stand.
