Arsene Wenger, “I just would like to say that I was full of compliments and praise for Chelsea”

Submitted by Jeffrey on February 9, 2010 – 13:16 13 Comments

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed he was upset with the media for only focusing on his “we were a better team” words after the Stamford Bridge defeat of last Sunday.

Speaking on Monday, the Frenchman declared he was “full of compliments and praise” for Carlo Ancelotti’s side who defeated the Gunners by two goals to nil.

Wenger said:

I just would like to say that I was full of compliments and praise for Chelsea after the game and I find completely unfair from the press that you take one word of my press conference to turn it into a kind of probe every time.

You did that at Villa, you did that at Chelsea and every time if you look at the intent of my press conference it was positive towards the opponent.

I am long enough in England to know that the team who wins can say what they want. They are right.

But it is my job to take a distance from that, analyse the game in a calm way with a cold head and to analyse what is right.

Arsene’s press conferences are getting more and more embarrassing. He’s becoming a bit of a joke at the moment i wish he wouldn’t bother talking to the media as much. He’s turning in to that crazy uncle type figure, the one who makes a fool of himself in public.

  • Fabgooner says:

Au contraire, he’s exactly right. The press did the same thing at Villa, and did it again after the last game.

  • jackie wilshere says:

yes but i agree with jamie m
i wish he would talk to the media less, they always just bate and turn on him because he sticks to his gunners and they know what his response will be, and how to shape it :p
    i still believe in him!!!!

  • finegunner says:

we need to support our team..because we cannot turn them down now..gunners till death

  • stantheman says:

Yes, he is becoming an embarrassment. What about a bit of humility and character. I understand that he is there to defend his team, but why does he always want to qualify and justify losing by trying to find something negative to say about the other side. Common AW call it as it is and stop trying to con the people who believe in you. You will earn more respect (which you are losing) if you stop feeding us all this bollocks.

for me and rest of the world you are the embarrassment, i bet you call yourself fans

  • stantheman says:

Leave the rest of the world out of it – you are in the minority. Don’t you know what’s going on – read the blogs, we are all pissed off.

  • spq says:

problem is that it seems i m the only one who lives in real world where you have to take in account debt of manu, chelsea`s sugar daddy and prizes they had paid for their players , while we have new stadium that strains our budget,

Our transfer budget has been for last 6 years at the level of mid table club, so take a deep breath and appreciate what wenger was capable achieve with it

and if you want our club to get in debt, or to be a toy of some foreign billionaire for a sake of big money signings then you are supporting wrong club

Wow, thank you for the label, but I’m afraid you should call the software like that because we rarely manually delete messages.

They are however deleted automatically if:

      a. They contain bad words
      b. They contain a lot of spam links
      c. Message is all in caps

What one of the three you are the culprit for? :)

      • messi says:

ok i apologize if thats the case i was just very angry after expressing my opinion, like i said it was something ive been waiting to mention for a while and i shouldnt have reacted like that. yep it was all in caps and maybe a bad word can really remember.
