Arsene Wenger, “We tried to sign players but it didn’t work and we have to accept that”

For maybe the last time this month, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger archived the January transfer window by explaining that he wanted to sign players but for a reason which he didn’t explain, it simply “didn’t work”.
Speaking ahead of the Liverpool game, the Frenchman again declared his side will fight for the Premiership until the end, although having three strikers out at the same time was of course, not helpful at all.
The Frenchman said:
We tried to sign players but it didn’t work and we have to accept that. We lost strikers. At the moment unfortunately we have got three strikers out basically with Bendtner just coming back, Eduardo out and Van Persie out.
The coincidence of the fixtures happens that when you lose one player he misses three big games. You have to accept that as well. But we have promised ourselves to fight until the last game of the season.
On signing players on loan, Wenger added:
First of all you must find the players who are better than the players you have. And I believe that our basic problem was not offensive in the two games we lost just now. It was more defensive.
