French defender Gael Clichy, back from injury, was speaking to Arsenal TV Online about how much it means to him when fans sing his name during matches.
The 24-year old explained how important it is for fans to give their support and never give up as it is a mean for them to show they appreciate the work players are doing on the pitch.
Clichy said:
It is something I am really happy with. It shows that the fans can see the work you are doing.
Of course you are not Maradona or Pele but they appreciate the work you are doing.
When I am on the pitch and I hear those songs and nothing can be better than that. So I really want to thank the fans. I am here because of them and all of the team are here because of the fans and we will never say thank you enough to them.
For the fans it is a way of talking to the players because unfortunately we don’t get to meet them everyday. It’s a way for them to tell us that they appreciate the work we are doing and the fact that they love us as a player so it’s good and we play for them and they sing for us.
