It seems the injury nightmare will never end for Arsenal. With Robin van Persie, Kieran Gibbs and Johan Djourou all long-term absentees, it seems the Gunners will have to do without French midfielder Abou Diaby for some weeks after he suffered a “knee ligament” injury.
Speaking after the Porto game, manager Arsenal Wenger explained on Arsenal TV Online how the 23-year old joined the rest of his team mates for training with pain in his knee and will join Andrey Arshavin, William Gallas and Eduardo on the sidelines for Saturday’s game against Sunderland.
Wenger said:
We lost Abou Diaby last night [at Porto]. It is not understandable. I don’t know how it worked. But he has a medial knee ligament injury.
We discovered it today. He came in today and he had pain in his knee.
However Song could be available, we have a test tomorrow on him. I don’t know about Almunia, we’ll have a test tomorrow on him too. I’d say Song is 80 per cent to be back in the squad. Almunia 50:50. But Diaby is zero.
Arshavin, Gallas and Eduardo will still be out.
