Nicklas Bendtner: 15+ goals objective a possibility if I keep on scoring in every game
In an interview given to Ekstra Bladet last June and published on our website, Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner revealed this season was supposed to be the one where he would get his “big breakthrough”. Unfortunately, injuries prevented him from securing a regular place with the Gunners but he’s now back and ready to reach his goals objective.
In June, as he was archiving the season, the 22-year old said how 15 goals per season was a satisfactory score but he would have been delighted to add more this year and in fact, speaking to the London Evening Standard today, he said how if he keeps on scoring in every game this season, the objective will be reached.
Bendtner said:
It has been very frustrating because I set myself a target at the start of the season. Obviously, because of my injury it has been really difficult to make that target.
It is nice to be back scoring again and I need to score two goals in all the remaining games to reach that.

He may be cocky but got to love his drive and optimistic attitude good on you bendt.
well said
Definitely, and if some players like Rosicky, Nasri, Eduardo, Fabregas and Vela who are clearly more precise in front of goal than he is, IF ONLY they would share his attitude and the number of shots he makes, Arsenal would be in a better place.
But our problem is – The most precise players prefer not to shoot – and the ones who are not so precise like Eboue, Song, Walcott and Bendtner will always shoot wide – Funny phenomenon it is – Which makes me feel like somehow, Arsene Wenger doesn’t train players in Accordance to their strengths and Weaknesses.
He’ll do it. Mark my words…given a run of games injury free and a nice run in the world cup (with denmark he has been impressive), and he’ll be a force next year. Another summer of competitive play, plus more time for him to mature into his body, and i can easily see him becoming a 17-20 goal striker, but more importantly for the team, if he gets consistent, our midgets will have a guy to cross to, a guy to win aerial battles and retain possession, and he’s also getting good at holding up play with his feet. His footwork pretty good for his size, and it will only get better. trust in him. I have more belief in him than theo…that’s for sure.
thank you Renzo.
I read your articles every day, keep it up.
cant believe another arsenal blog, if so can be called, though nicklas was saying he wants to score 2 more goals and stop this season!!
A player is cocky when he knows he is excellent and top class… ex: Henry was cocky because he knew he was world class…
Bendtner is an “idiot” and a “retard” with boots… He is praised by Wenger (why? I don’t get it) and compare himself to Ibrahimovic…!!! He should be more focus on his game instead of opening his mouth every time a mike is in front of him…
15 goals, is he out of his mind…!!!!
I miss Van Persie so much, dear God…!!!
Edouardo and Bendtner are both second rate players…
Bendtner will never be great because he does not have the discipline and the drive (watch him on the pitch…!!! he is lazy, can barely make a control, with his height he barely gets balls and he needs 5 chances before putting one in…!!!)… If he is the future of Arsenal striker we are simply dumbed…!!
Herbert, nice constructive criticism there. If Wenger is favouring “idiots” and “retards” then maybe you could get a game. What is the point in your comments, it’s just unneccessary negativity. Have more respect for the players who wear the jersey.
I agree with most of your points Herbert but, once Eduardo recovers his confidence after his horrific injury, his performance on the pitch will improve.
bendtner maynot be a toptoptop player, but his hunger, drive, attitude and optimism shows he is mentally strong. if only eduardo n walcott were like this.
Bendtner was named the best Danish player in his country, okay one might say that`s Denmark has a poor league , but Denmark was among the first countries to qualify if not the first! Thanks to…Bendtner`s goals. With him Arsenal are stronger , he`s strong, good in the air, his link-up play is good (look at how many times he touches the ball you`d be surprised!) ,and he creates chances for himself quite a lot, so many times we see him in a good position in the box. Okay he misses chances but that will change, (Drogba wasn`t as good as Bendtner at 21), was Lampard or Gerrard playing for their countries at 21 ? Give him time, he`s developing well, remember Alex Song a couple years ago or Flamini , they got better with age , Bendtner will get better too , very soon. Watch out! Oh I forgot to mention that he defends too, he puts pressure on defenders.
eh HERBERT think twice if we give u van persie alone will he win the title, remember how benthner was at the beginning of the season, he was sharp powerful, he is come from injury so he is still trying but watch him when he is at his best foam….. u just hate him i know but he is still 22 do not compare him to Drogba who is 30 now…wait to see benthner when he reaches 25 he will be better thn your Drogba i know fans like u , always compare our strikers to those of chelsea. but after two years chelsea will be nothing But Arsenal will be flying….
First of all Shaban, I have never compared Bendtner to Drogba…!!! because I know for a fact that he will never reach that level…
Bendtner has compared himself to Ibrahimovic who was already top class at 22…
I hold a season ticket for Arsenal games, so I can call myself a true fan ( I am not questioning your believes or alliance like you) …
Just stick to your comments and your views, I am untitled to mine…
Sure,HERBERT. Sturridge,Rodwell,Bojan…are young but if you loo at how they play u will surely see promising glimpses.. THEY KNOW WHERE THE GOAL IS,bendtner doesnt knw where the goal is! he’s just a playmaker, not and NOT a striker.
Bendtner is really really good…. really good… he’s still a bit of a kid inside…. but talent… he has…. and a lot of.. I’ve alway believe he will become a star and I do see him scoring many many goals.
Good thoughts for a player like him hope this won’t make him hold on to the ball for too long.
