An announcement published by the Mexican National Team provided the good news that Arsenal striker Carlos Vela will not join the Gunners’ long list of injuries as an MRI scan confirmed that the 21-year old suffered no serious injury. Vela was in action with El Tri on Wednesday in a friendly game which Mexico won by two goals to nil and as reported by Mexican website La Crónica de Hoy, the striker preferred to stop after scoring Mexico’s second goal as a precautionary move.
Yet to secure a regular place in Arsene Wenger’s first eleven, Vela used all his strength and pace to make his way into the New Zealand penalty area, getting past a defender and slot the ball with his right foot. On the 80th minute, however, the striker opted to leave the pitch in order not to aggravate what we now know was a small injury.
Speaking about his injury, the striker said:
I am delighted that everything went well, I was just worried because I thought it was serious, but thank God it’s not. As soon as I felt pain, I decided to stop in order to avoid more serious problems.
The 21-year old will not be part of the Arsenal squad for the Burnley home game on Saturday but should be back for either the Porto Champions League game or next week’s Premiership away game against Phil Brown’s Hull City.
