Arsene Wenger on Cesc Fabregas, “He has a hamstring problem and we don’t know how big the damage”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was speaking about captain Cesc Fabregas after yesterday’s 3-1 win at the Emirates against Burnley. The Spaniard had to abandon the game in the first half after scoring the first goal for the Gunners and according to the Frenchman, it’s the same hamstring injury he suffered against Aston Villa which unfortunately could see him miss Tuesday’s Champions League game.
With Porto coming up, this is of course bad news for Arsenal who are already without striker Robin van Persie and midfielder Aaron Ramsey but welcome back Abou Diaby, Andrey Arshavin and Eduardo, who all featured in the Burnley game, with the Russian scoring the third goal of the game.
Speaking of Fabregas and the title race, Wenger said:
He has a hamstring problem and we don’t know how big the damage is yet because it is too early. We’ll see tomorrow or Monday. We have to make a late decision over whether he plays on Tuesday, certainly. It is the same hamstring [he hurt against Aston Villa earlier in the season].
[The title race?] It is down to our consistency. If we win our games, we will be there, that is for sure. But you have experienced again today that every game demands full focus and commitment. When you play against teams who fight not to go down, they will fight until the last minute. Next week we play at Hull and expect exactly the same type of game.
