Andrey Arshavin gives good news ahead of Porto, “My leg does not hurt any more”

Submitted by Renzo on March 8, 2010 – 4:30 13 Comments

It doesn’t take much for Andrey Arshavin to shine for Arsenal and on Saturday afternoon against Burnley, the Russian only needed twenty minutes to get chances and score. The 28-year old was coming back from injury but speaking to his official website, he now confirmed that “in general”, his leg does not hurt anymore.

The Gunners will host Porto tomorrow in their attempt to recover the 2-1 defeat of a fortnight ago in the Champions League with captain Cesc Fabregas to carry out a late fitness test to determine whether he can be part of the game.

On his game and the injury, Arshavin told arshavin.eu:

It was a little bit difficult. Thirty minutes is a lot for me. Usually 20 minutes is enough for me to score but today it took more time. About the game? I tried to be a threat to Burnley’s gate. When opportunity appeared, I tried to score. It happened once.

In general, my leg does not hurt any more.

If arshavin and the rest of other players who did not play the first against porto are fit for the second leg tomorrow, porto will have 0 and arsenal 4. This is my wish.

  • Arshadin says:

Arsenal are too strong for Porto this time..they wish to win on Arsenal errors.
    3-0 Home Win

With all our guys around now, arsenal 4 vs 1 porto. Bendtner 2 Fabregas 1 Walcott 1. I can tell the future! Lol… GUNNERS 4 LIFE!!!

    • schoolboy says:

Bendtner 2 from 7 chances :D naaah..just kidding, he’s a good boy. I fully support him, hope in tomorrow’s match he can show that last week was just his bad day

  • sen says:

it depends who gets the 1st goal. If porto gets it…. i think arsenal wl have to really work hard…..and may be they wont make it… so its important we get the 1st goal and keep a clean sheet… 1-0 would do for us…. porto will play against us.they wont sit back… so we have to be on our toes…. and we cant miss chances… this time….

  • schoolboy says:

I bet porto will play anti football by placing 10 people in defence..they will try to maintain their 2-1 win..so bendtner might be the key to score since he’s the only one who could head the ball. we’ll need to have a lot of high crossing

    • Comrade23 says:

That will doubtless be their strategy, but plenty of teams have tried that at the Grove and gone home losers. I think we’ll be fine if our defense holds up, and with Sol replacing Silvestre, it should certainly be more solid. 2-0 to the Arsenal.

  • ibra says:

    • Comrade23 says:

Porto is NOT a “fantastic team.” We gifted them the first leg, and even then we were denied a penalty and fell victim to Fabianski’s ridiculous errors. It will be tougher without Cesc, but we’re home and have back Diaby and Arshavin, and Theo looks like he’s rounding into form (touch wood). The boys should do the job tomorrow.

  • Jason says:

woooo!! But will he start for the game against porto??
Maybe a formation like this will be possible.

    ——————Almunia———————–
    ————–Sol—-Vermaelen————–
    –Eboue——————————Clichy–
    ———————Song————————
    ———-Denilson——–Diaby————–
    –Walcott————————–Nasri——
    ——————Bendtner———————-

If Arshavin is fit, then he will start on the left with Nasri in the mid replacing Denilson.
I will hope to see Vela playing too. but AW most likely to use him as a sub only I think.
Bendtner must have gt his lesson learnt and score some great one against Porto.

Go Arsenal. Whack Porto 3-0 at the Emirates…

  • Arshadin says:

    Best 11 against Porto.
