Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has rubbished rumours linking him with a possible move to Spanish giants Barcelona by declaring how the Arsenal captaincy increased his commitment to the club. Speaking before the Gunners’ impressive 5-0 win against Porto, the Spaniard told TVE how his dream is to reach the Champions League final and face Real Madrid, something which looks more than possible after the Gunners’ impressive performance against the Portuguese side.
Fabregas, 22, added how he is important as any other Arsenal player for the club and how united he is to the club, and to the supporters.
He said:
I want to play in the Champions League final in Madrid and against Real. That would be the maximum for me as an Arsenal player. If we analyse the 16 clubs left then I believe that ten still have a chance to reach the final and we are on that list.
I have been at Arsenal for many years but I don’t see myself as the only leader. We are together as a team and I rely on my team mates to help me be successful. I am no more important than my team mates. But I am very united to the club and to the supporters. My role as captain has increased my commitment to Arsenal and I am happy there.
