From zero to hero. Danish International Nicklas Bendtner revealed he wasn’t affected by last Saturday’s missed chances against Burnley as it was just a way for his own team mates to play jokes on him. Speaking after the Porto game in which the he hit a hat-trick, Bendtner revealed that some days things don’t work for you but on other occasions, they do.
The 22-year old also added how Porto’s hat-trick was always an objective in his Arsenal career, saying also how it will certainly not be his last. Also, as per English football tradition, the striker was handed the match ball with player signatures at the end of the game, a souvenir he will surely keep with honour.
The striker is quoted as saying by the Daily Star:
There was some criticism of me after the game last Saturday, but me and my team-mates have just laughed about it. They made jokes with me. That is how I look at that – I laugh. They have all congratulated me for my hat-trick and then we laughed about it – in a good way. It feels incredibly good to score my first hat-trick for Arsenal.
It has been on its way for quite a while, but now I have done it. It is really one of the personal goals I have wanted so much to achieve. I’m so happy to receive the match ball as a memory. All my team-mates signed it and I will keep is as a wonderful souvenir of my first hat-trick – but definitely not my last!
