Arsenal kept their titles hopes alive with a hard-fought 1-2 win against Hull City, away from home. A late Nicklas Bendtner strike made sure the Gunners stay on level points with Chelsea and can look at the future with a smile after manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that captain Cesc Fabregas and Tomas Rosicky could both be back for the home game against West Ham United.
Speaking after the Hull win, the Frenchman was delighted to see his team get three important points as he labeled the win as a “big” one. Wenger, added how his side never gives up and how, with only a few games to go, they can keep on believing for the Premiership title.
In his post-match conference, Wenger said:
It was a very big win. When you play a difficult game at midweek there is a lot of mental tension. And we came here and won today, so of course a big three points. We know what is at stake every time you go away like that. We needed the three points and we got it after 90 minutes, exactly like at Stoke. It tells you that it was a difficult game, but as well that we have desire and mental strength and we never give up. And for such a young team that is great.
I believe first of all, that we are in the fight and we have eight games to go. We are in there, why should we not believe? What I especially believe is that we will give absolutely everything to do it and we have seen that again today. We got jaded but still kept going. There is team spirit there and it is special. You can see that.
Rosicky and Fabregas have a good chance to be ready for next week. Gallas, no.
