Arsenal striker Carlos Vela is ready for the World Cup Finals. Against both England and the Netherlands, the Mexican looked fully recovered from injury and ready to impress in South Africa.
Speaking to The Sun, the 21-year old declared that his season was a very difficult one because of injuries but is looking forward to this summer’s competition to get back to full fitness and show what he can do.
As he explained to Arsenal TV Online two weeks ago, the Mexican again highlighted the importance of the World Cup, explaining how it can help him show what he can do in order to secure a regular place with Arsenal. And if not with the Gunners – with whom he signed a new long-term contract last December – then maybe with a different club on loan.
Mexico were drawn in Group A for the World Cup Finals together with France, South Africa and Uruguay and will be kicking off the competition on June 11 against the home team.
Vela said:
It was difficult. I didn’t have many chances when I was fit. Then, injuries didn’t allow me to be in good form. But I still have time to get ready for the World Cup.
I’m only concentrating on playing for Mexico and having a good World Cup.
Having a good World Cup can open many doors. If not at Arsenal, we’ll see where.
