Carlos Vela’s agent: Deportivo are interested but Arsenal don’t want to sell the player

Arsenal striker Carlos Vela will not leave Arsenal even if many teams are showing interest in the young Mexican.

Speaking to AS, his agent Eduardo Hernandez revealed that Deportivo de La Coruña and other teams have made an approach to sign the 21-year old but in a recent meeting with Arsenal, it was made clear that the player is not for sale.

The Mexican has struggled to secure a regular place at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger but speaking at the end of last season, he explained how injuries were the main reason why he enjoyed very little time on the pitch and is looking forward to the World Cup Finals in order to show what he can do.

With Mexico, the striker has already impressed in friendlies especially against Italy, match in which he scored a very good goal and was a constant threat to the Italian defenders who had three players booked for fouls on him.

On Friday, the Mexicans will kick-off their World Cup campaign, against South Africa, in Johannesburg for their Group A match. France and Uruguay are the other two teams of the group.

The player’s agent explained:

We appreciate the interest of Deportivo in Carlos. They are not the first team to have shown an interest, but we talked recently with Arsenal and we are told that there is no possibility of him going to another club.

It is clear he has fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of Chamakh. That leaves us with him, RVP, Arshavin, Bendtner and Eddy. Loan him out to a premiership team like Bolton or somethin, just like Wilshire did. Actually, we can chuck Walcott in that deal too (preferably Vela on a season long one and Walcott on a 6 month deal). Loaning 2 very, very talented players could pave the way for a Cahill signing which we really need so its possibly a win win situation. Its hard to realise what Arsene’s plans for Vela are, but if he is only planning to play him in the League Cup, Vela is goin to be very dissapointed. Ok some may argue RVP may break down sometime, Arsh suddenly forgot how to shoot, Eddy still finding his confidence, Bendtner still working on his 1st touch and Chamakh just adjusting, but ill be damned if we cant manage a season with 5 quality strikers!!

No sell of talented player but expired Silvestre & Gallas can leave

  • sad says:

Yeh im sure Bolton want all our youngsters, they especially want to loan out youngsers so we can get a discount on Cahill as they are sooo eager to get rid of him. After all they are a small club and should bend over when big clubs like Arsenal comes knocking on the door. A bit like ARsenal should bend over when big clubs like Barca comes…

    • Ben says:

I’m sure they do want Arsenal’s youngsters, actually. The point of loaning players isn’t to buy other players at the club but to give them first-team action for whatever reason. The day like Walcott goes on loan, it means he’s lost his place here and is free to move on. Loaning him would just be putting him in the shop window.

  • Len says:

Let him go…Wenger is letting him waste away.

    • Davi says:

It might be too early to say that. Over the next couple of years you would expect him to become a top player. I hope wenger handles him right, but he usually does.
Flamini didnt get into the side till he was about 23, right? But he turned out to be a great player still. I think by keeping vela on the periphery of things he risks alienating him, though, and that is probably the reason he made those comments. I wouldnt worry about vela’s future as a player h/e. If he’s good enough, he will show it in time, whether for arsenal or someone else.

  • Bonnie Maina says:

I’d like ti see Vela deployed on the right hand side of a three-man attack. He could do well cutting in to the inside with his mercurial left foot………..MESSI STYLE

  • Davi says:

This is good to hear, if true. At least it means it is possible that Wenger DOES recognise vela’s quality. I hope so, but he needs to start trusting carlos more and give him a decent opportunity to break into the 1st team.

  • JayGooner says:

Blimey a Spanish club that conducts business in the proper manner! I didnt even know Deportivo were after Carlos, but fair play to them, they enquired and were told NO and went away. Maybe Deportivo should give some advice to their catalunyan neighbours eh?

  • Rami says:

You really think depo left and went away, Ha yeah right, only in your dreams. You think that Vela is the number five in the pecking order. For sure Depo do not think so and they are not the only ones that think that. Even the coach knows better than that mate. Viva Mexico!!!

  • Nando says:

I would love for Vela to succeed at Arsenal, but it’s going to become increasingly difficult to break into the team next season not because of Vela’s lack of talent but because of Wenger’s preference in other players. If he does get loaned out, Deportivo would be a good fit since they are a team battling for a Euro football spot. On the other hand, if he gets to move within the Prem, I would prefer Fulham because they play better football than Bolton which would fit Vela’s style more.

    • Erwin says:

I agree that Vela must selled to Depor, Vela will succees on Depor, wenger doesn’t give many opportunity for him so it would be better to see him play at Depor and bring Depor win the League and enter on the champions league again, I really miss Depor play at champions League, it will be nice show

  • Erwin says:

I really hope to see Vela play at Depor, if Depor can get Gio n Vela, they wil make great show n combination with Guardado, and those trio Mexican will help Depor for become the champion on La liga next season, I really hope that wenger and redknapp will let them go to Depor, if wenger want to see better future for Vela, Please let him go n play at Depor, Forza Super Depor, Depor is the best team ever
