Ajax and Netherlands right back Gregory van der Wiel revealed he was happy to read about a possible interest from Arsenal although he will only think of his future after the World Cup Finals.
The 22-year old right back explained that he would be a good fit for the English Premiership and is hoping for Dutch colleague and friend Robin van Persie to speak with manager Arsene Wenger for an eventual move to North London.
The defender also explained how Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested but how he is at the moment full focused on Holland’s World Cup campaign which kicks off tomorrow afternoon against Denmark in what seems to be a very tricky group for the Orange as they are to also face Japan and Cameroon.
According to reports, the Gunners could lose French right-back Bacary Sagna who is linked with a possible move to Inter Milan so the Dutchman could be an option if such a scenario takes place.
Speaking on Sunday, Gregory van der Wiel said:
Of course it’s nice to read that Arsenal are interested. I consider myself a good fit for the Premier League.
Robin van Persie has told me many stories about the Premier League, Arsenal and Mr. [Arsene] Wenger. Maybe he can put in a good word for me.
I know that Barcelona and Real [Madrid] are interested, but now I am only thinking about doing well at the World Cup in South Africa.
