Manuel Almunia on goalkeeper rumours: Not worried about the situation

Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia revealed he is not worried about all the transfer speculation written in papers as he believes his regular place in the squad is not in danger.
Speaking to The People, the Spaniard explained that he is aware of all the goalkeepers linked with a move to Arsenal but prefers to focus on resting properly during the summer so as to be ready ahead of next season’s training and a long season ahead.
Almunia was the source of immense frustration to Gunners fans who have seen the 33-year old and his backup Lukasz Fabianski make blunders in several key games last season.
Club chairman Peter Hill Wood has this week revealed that the club has made an official approach for Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer but this was rejected as the Cottagers have no intention of selling the 37-year old.
Also, manager Arsene Wenger has declared last April how he never said that the Spaniard will be his long-term number one, adding how the position of the 33-year old is that he’s in competition with Lukasz Fabianski.
Ahead of next season, Almunia said:
I have a deal signed with Arsenal and nobody at the club has given me a reason to question my future.
So I am not worried about the situation. I have seen what the papers are saying but I do not think it affects me.
I am resting now and watching the World Cup, and then I will return in July to work with the rest of the squad.
