[Rate The Rumour] Arsenal Transfer Rumours, 13/06 – Vincent Enyeama and Yaya Toure

Submitted by James on June 14, 2010 – 1:00 36 Comments
Starting the last week of April and going through the summer, The Gunning Hawk will bring you one article of the most creative and sensational of Arsenal transfer rumours. Of course, please understand that most of them – if not all of them – are “wrong”, to use the same word used by Arsene Wenger. But, it will interesting to discuss what it would be if one or more transfers do indeed go through.

June 13

On a quiet World Cup day, a new goalkeeper and the return of Yaya Toure are today’s news for players linked with a possible move to Arsenal.

To start with, according to Caught Offside, Arsene Wenger was impressed by Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama during the first game against Argentina in the World Cup and is considering making a move for the 27-year old Hapoel Tel Aviv keeper.

One has to remark that every goalkeeper who does well in South Africa has a very good chance of being linked with the Gunners considering how many believe Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski are to be replaced.

In other news, it seems Yaya Toure’s agent has revealed to Rac-1 how it is a possibility for Arsenal to sign the player in a parts exchange deal with Barcelona which would see captain Cesc Fabregas join the Spaniards. Yaya for Cesc? Personally? No sir.

And finally, yesterday’s results to conclude with. Less than 500 votes so the sample we collected on June 12 is not really valid though the results are to be announced and they say that Salvatore Sirigu received 148 positives votes against the 140 positive votes of Andre Santos.

  • Alan says:

i would love to see enyeama play for us.

  • Chi says:

As a Nigerian, I must say I am proud of Enyeama’s performance. But we are talking consistent performance from a goalie, week in, week out. I doubt that he can make the cut in the premiership in a club like Arsenal, but only time will tell. If Nigeria go far in the tournament perhaps we can assess better. I can say that for the few times I have watched him, he has been above average, but surely not world class. Yesterday, he seemed to be the best goalie in the world!

    He is less vocal though.

  • fazizu says:

i know its just rumours bt ‘caught offside’ links us up with every name he can remember…. He is prety inventive though

  • Zubi says:

ENYEAMA TO ARSENAL THATS FUNNY IS IT BECAUSE HE SAVES TWO OR MORE BALLS OF LIONEL MESSI, GOAL KEEPERS RATINGS: ALMUNIA 80% -ENYEAMA 20%. ALMUNIA IS FAR BETTER THAN ENYEAMA.

    • fASH says:

      Lol!

If only Alumnia was good enough to make such great saves against Barca in the champions return leg, we would beaten them one nil and qualified to the next phase.

Remember he was the best player in Israel last season, not best goalkeeper but best player.

I think we need to keep our fingers crossed and access him more to know if he can be consistent with such performance.

  • Felix says:

    Arsenal don’t need Enyeamah!

  • Jason says:

Enyeama… Maybe we should monitor him a bit longer…
Based on 1match, we can’t make any assumption…
Its not fair to rate him that way….

Yaya Toure… If he is going to be part of the deal…
35-40mil + Yaya = Cesc will be reasonable to us…
Cesc alone can cost up to 60-70mil….
But he expresses that he wanted to play for Barca that much…
I feel disappointed over him…. Why?
He has not respect on his contract and Barca show no respect in taking him too…
30mil for a world class midfielder at the age of 23? Come on~

  • Saint Yobo says:

Well, i am a Nigerian but the truth of the matter is that, Enyeama is far better than Almunia. Let start with his performances in his club. A goalie that can score a goal, win Man of the match on several occassions. He has never be a push over since when he started as Nigeria number one goalie. Let’s take a look at his past records, winner of 2 CAF champions league, Nigerian League, 3 CAN bronze medal, he was been voted best goalie in Israel since when he joined them. He single handedly won a cup for his club by saved 3 out of 5 penalty in the final match. My guy Enyeama is far better than Almunia. Let’s give him a trial i am very sure he will not disappoint Arsenal

    • Kujembola MIke says:

you are deffinetaly right, but I need somebody to give me details not just speculations y they feel Alumia is better than Eyeama,if u want to be sincere Eyeama is better, Alumia jst have the previledge of the ppl he play along

  • Abdu U, Ethiopia says:

Don bother about Yaya, What I’d like to ask Wenger as a favour for all of us is not to let the door open for the brand of the Gunners, FABREGASS. Then every thing will be over. Yaya can go wherever his ego drives him to. Simple, we don wanna see this name written again on this blog. We are all sick n tired of it. As for Enyeama, am in the same boat with what his country fellow man Saint Yobo said. Even Green’s howler is by far better than Almunium’s saves. That’s all. Mr. Wenger, please give the chance for the Nigerian goalie!

  • Jasmin says:

Well i think eyeama fit the bill. Pls someone tell wenger to go 4 him. He wont be expensive. And i’ve never been afraid whenever in he is in goallie 4 us as a nigerian.

  • Aminu Jos says:

I am a Nigerian but i dont like sentiment.Enyeama cann ot and will never play for us even Fabiaski is better than him.remember he once has a trial with lowly Bolton what stop him from joing them.Neuer.Iloris.Hart.Romeru is the answer.

  • Emanuel says:

As a supporter of both Arsenal and Hapoel Tel Aviv (lucky for me, the two clubs have never met), I can testify that Enyeama’s performance on Saturday was no freak — he was exceptionally good throughtout his seasons with Hapoel. And it seems that his current contract allows him to transfer (for a fee of course) to a great European club. Hapoel are well aware that he won’t play for them next season, so the only question is who will grab him. I think Arsène should.

  • keeper says:

enyeama is far better than almunia.thats all dat i can come up with.

  • Pong says:

Enyeama is one of the best goalkeeper in the world (real like wenger always say “top top class”) so I think he can smart to play for Arsenal for sure

  • nicenshine says:

Grab him, he seems to be good and for his age he can play for quite of couple of years, and for Yaya hes good too but to exhange For Fabregas is a joke. Yaya is a quality player no doubt but Fabregas to me and to Arsenal is priceless, top up another 30m + Yaya that sounds reasonable, the best Dun sell at all. Arsenal is not in debts is there really a need to sell 1 of the Arsenal Greats to Be? I’m pretty sad if Arsene does that, he should have start buying quality players 2 years back and make Fabregas stay. Hopefully Fabregas can stay for 1 or 2 seasons more to see, after all hes still young. Who knows maybe this new season or 2nd season we will win.

  • phemchy_NiG says:

Enyeama has alwayz bin awarded d best player(nt only d best goalie) in isreal. He’s his clubs pk taker.
Enyeama wil b a very gud buy for d gooners.
Wenger i want a Nigerian in arsenal pls buy him.

  • Abed Johannes says:

We don,t need Yaya Toure, with Diaby, Song and Denlisonand the young Eastmond i think there is no place for him.

  • Veera says:

I saw Vincent Enyeama many many time that he played I can trust and confirm to you he is a fantastic goalie that have many many fantastic saves.
    ———————————————————————————————————————————–
*********If you want to know I say really or not please please see him in Nigeria-Greece and Nigeria-South Korea******************
    ———————————————————————————————————————————–

If Arsenal sign him I think that a real deal for sure. His club set his price as current only 3M euro, but after worldcup am not sure for this pricetag

  • wale ojora says:

sentiments aside,i think Enyeama is better than Aluminium & Fanbsloppy put together. He’s comfortable & composed in goal (never panic). He is also good with aerial balls, long range shots & one-to-one situations, stops penalties and he is a good penalty taker.Fans shld do a proper background check on him b4 passing judgement. If he was with a juve,i knw y’all wld be clamouring for him even @ exhorbitant price. So many of u get on dis blog to talk shit.AW,dis guy is cheap now, take him!!!

  • STRAIGHT FROM JOBURG! says:

i was at the game & he changed the complexion of the game – he put his life on the line to help his team – that’s the sort of players Arsenal need now. i think he’ll be a good solution to the gaolkeeping emergency at Arsenal – eventhough i still prefer Joe Hart (Vincent won’t be a bad acquisition).

No way Yaya Toure – he’s over-rates. Kevin-Prince Baoteng is the hard tackling man we need. Spus lost out on a gem – im sure he can be the next Essien.

  • jo cool says:

@zubi, i have seen eyeama play as much as i have seen almunia do,for 2 consecutive nations cup he was voted best keeper,he was rated among top 5 best players in israel last season and was mvp the season before, even if the league is filled with bendtner like strikers u still gat 2 give it 2 the guy.if he can save shots from messi and almunia couldn’t, then he’s definately better lol.rating: eyeama 90 almunia 25. ‘

  • wale ojora says:

@jo cool,i like objective contribution to issues just like urs.i hate it when peeps jump on d wagon dat leads to nowhere. Our opinions cld be vital.lets hook up on fb.same id.

  • Arsenal Angel says:

Enyeama’s positioning was great, he was alert at all times and commanded his area. In a nutshell with so many top stars in the Argies team people thought that they would have a huge number of goals, they didn’t because of the goalie.

Enyeama showed what the Arsenal goal keepers couldn’t do this season and at the top level under big pressure. It is true that this guy has had many trials elsewhere and didn’t do well. I can only say that he appears to of improved. Like Gomez at Spurs.

Lets watch the rest of the games in group to see if he can put in an excellent performance again. I like Joe Hart and hopefully he will be picked for the next match. Arsenal need a GK that gives them confidence going forward. I suppose all Arsenal fans will be scouting a new GK for us at the WC in the coming weeks. Rob Green is off the list. Mark Schwarzer is a maybe, but not impressive.

And I don’t want Yaya at Arsenal now, he has snubbed us twice (thinking he is too good) and made comments about Arsenal. Obviously agent has messed up Man City and Chelsea deals so is trying use Arsenal to get interest from other clubs by relinking his name. He is unproven in the EPL week in week out and had a few injuries. Song & Diaby are good enough, Yaya is not worth the reported £35m or wages of £150,000 a week.

  • emmanuel says:

As a Nigerian i will love to see my country man do well and at the same time go far in his career but at the same time i wont be sentimental about this the truth is that Enyeama is much better than Almunia. Please somebody tell wenger to go for him

  • arsenal14 giwa says:

i believe that he could be arsenals goal keeper because his a good player much better than almunia or fabinanski they have made too many mistakes and should be kept and yaya toure wont come becasue fabregas wont go and diaby is good enough we dont need yaya toure
lets just hope that arsene buys a keeper

  • Idris says:

Well, i’m a Nigerian Born but presently in UAE for about 2 days now and i wouldnt understand why someone from the same country would talk about his home boy like this when we see better when he plays on the field u must be rough to my point of View Enyeama number 1 that i pray every moment of my life that arsen wenger should go for and not to start pricing again.

  • Haroon jada haroon says:

Please wenger my life buy enyama for me he is very good and he know what he doing

  • ANTHONY says:

Oooooh My God! Wenger, what are you waiting for? right time to strike the igition. Do it now cuz Enyeama is calculative, reasonable, discipline and most especially appear calm during the play. DO NOT ALLOW THE SPECULATORS TO INTERVAIN.

  • Haroon jada haroon says:

Please wenger save my life buy enyama for me he is very good and he know what he doing
